  1. I had an old legacy on LPG for a while - was great with the trailer on and would go places the hilux wouldn't. I'd say if the volvo is doing well but lacks grip then a legacy would be a good choice.
  2. I think a lot depends on the HSE man at the time but that was one of the first things they checked on the Estate one and we also had a simialr thing set up on teh old PTO rackbench. Have seen a systenm set up linked into the fuel cutof solenoid on newer tractors so you can have an emergency stop button on the machine plugged into the wiring on the tractor so it's all dead fancy too - 10 min with the wire cutters and it's fitted
  3. I think that's the bit that they are most bothered about
  4. We've had a couple of LPG cars - a 2ltr Legacy and a 3.9 Disco. Both cars we bought with the kits already and cost wise they were little more than equivalent cars without it fitted. The legacy drove very similar on both gas and petrol but the disco is a definite jekyl and Hyde - on gas it's a similar to a TDI in performance (though still has a better top end) but on petrol it's still an animal. I tend to drive on gas most of the time then just flick over for overtaking/long uphills. Seem to be able to get gas most places ok, but prices vary from about 49p/l to 65p/l so you have good days and bad. Storage is a pain in the ass, the disco has two underslung tanks so at tleast the boot is still empty but I can only get 45 litres in the tanks so between 130-180 miles at a time
  5. I can honestly say that Theocus's A12 is the only one of any model vertical we've ever seen do that and with it happening over Christmas this thread is the first I've heard about the problem. Unfortunately no one is back in the office until Monday morning but I'll be onto Balfor first thing to get it sorted if we can't lift the parts off one in the yard I'll get them shipped straight out.
  6. I'd guess so
  7. Certainly keeps you on your toes
  8. If you're not long passed your CS31, I'd suggest getting a bit more experience under your belt before progressing - there's atill some reasonably good sized conifers in a wood before they reach big enough to be cs32 - especially if it's missed a thin. Best thing would be run a 13" bar for a few weeks and that'll get you practicing the right cuts on smaller stuff. Might only be classed as "small" but they can still do some damage if they go wrong. I don't fell anymore (least not much) as I drive a desk (not through choice i hasten to add!) but I never did bother with CS32 fwiw.
  9. But it can - pretty much every processor will drop one on it's end from time to time
  10. Not like Mogs/Landies etc - buy one and it's a chain reaction - just have to keep on buying
  11. Unless they've changed the design, I could only ever get 3 months out of a pair of Husky leather ones when felling in the woods - dunno about climbing though. Eltens I found ok comfort wise but couldn't get a year out of a pair. Haix Tibet Forest - over 2 years out of last pair
  12. Car said -10.5 yesterday morning - not convinced it was totally accurate but it was bloomin cold!
  13. Good choice my faves too.
  14. standard dumpy is .9m x .9m x.9m - about 0.7 m cube I think - to look at it's only 10cm smaller in each direction but it does make a fair difference
  15. Speak to Buzzsurgeon on here - he has used them on his 110 (3.5 tonne version) and seems to get on well with them.
  16. yep - one big loop as such and fixed chokers - didn't see the chokers up close but can't be too difficult to make something to suit.
  17. Seen it done with a three point linkage double drum and then a pulley block mounted on a 360 or a Drott/Dozer and that way you can move it quickly across the bank too as both ends of the system are mobile - worked well and dead cheap as using machines that were already on site. Forgot to say - did have to take the cables off the drums and run one long one as otherwise it didn't go through the pulley.
  18. Any higher and the hit you in the nads
  19. I had 265/75/16 BF Goodrich Muds on my 130 all year round - they were well behaved on the road and very good off it too. Never managed to damage one and they took the load well - bit pricey and you might struggle to get the old tread pattern now as they've stopped it - apparently the new ones are quite good but I dunno as I've not tried em.
  20. Done that before too - does work well but isn't right pleasant for a long day but much better than wet feet!
  21. Our thoughts are with his family.
  22. Have owned and and used thors a fair bit (Dean's got my old one) and was always happy with them. Haven't had a lot of a go with the system leader but I would say it's more useful on a big vertical than on a table splitter IMO as it's more as a hands free holding device for tall thin logs than anything else. I do also now work for the UK importer of Ballario so do have a fair bit of experience with them too - the A11 is a popular model for dealing with arbwaste and there are a couple of guys on here already have them and should be able to give some input. There is a new version of the A11 just been launched (first one got delivered to the customer Tuesday) - price is a touch more but not hugely depending on model. There may be 1 or 2 current model ones left at special prices
