  1. This is what I used on a emergency job last friday... Resultat av Googles bildsökning efter http://www.maskinisten.net/album_pic.php?pic_id=3094 Pretty high winds in Sweden and loads of trees had fallen over the powerlines, me and the tractor with operator managed to get 18 trees of the lines in one hour. Very skilled operator on the 1060 Resultat av Googles bildsökning efter http://www.artcom-tradebridge.com/images/529_Huddig-1060-web.gif Me either in the basket knocking of tops or me on the ground cutting and him lifting whole trees and stacking as we went along... Very versatile and fast and yes it was very muddy!
  2. Deponds on what you compare to I'ts a 490 mile roundtrip...but I would be down in a flash if you came over! It could be the first proper international Arbtalk gettogether... 2 trials have worked out fine so far! The fair is in the southern part of Sweden. There is a great forest with really old pine and spruce trees (150-300 years old) and a known place for Phellinus ferrugineofuscus...nothing spectacular but still...I haven been there myself but there are some good forests within trevelling distance..
  3. Brilliant!!!! At peak too:thumbup: I missed it...

  7. 54 registred findings in Sweden this year, a few not to far from me.... Seem to favour dead aspens on the floor...
  8. Artomyces pyxidatus is that a different one? Seem to get both names when I Google:confused1:
  9. I should have stayed longer... Nice stuff!
  10. I see them all the time! Reckon the photo is taken somewhere else...Trying to identify the moss to track down the site...... a wee bit blurred though.
  11. I'd say this one is a bit faster.... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gkoy_t32upw&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - Morgenstern Mathias Litzlhof Kettenwechsel[/ame]
  12. Agh thanks Cutter1, but really I'm just a noob on a very steep learning curve... but I do have a passion about it! Its just Hama that makes me look good.... a truly inspirational and humble teacher, with such a enthusiasm that one can only admire.
  13. Saved that for tomorrow, but managed to crownlift 2 limes, fell a whitebeam and in the afternoon do a reduction/crownlift over road on 2 poplars... but also managed to oversleep this morning....
  14. I do... But it doesent count, does it? Good post! Looking forward to see other examples too. Hamadrayad and I found one strange looking fella at Cutter1s place, might be a nonconformist...well see what the Kew fellas have to say.

  16. Just love that last pic! Thats what its all about! Getting a tad overexcitet over something rather strange....my friends think im a total nutter! So to all of you out there, DONT tell anyone! Yoy will be laughed at and mocked!!! (But who cares, i'm happy as Larry about my findings:thumbup:)
  17. I think they even tried cornstarch capsules, but I might be wrong. Back in 1999 or something I discussed the Idea with the guy at the gardenfair. He (the inventor I belive) was in my companys stall to display his product. As they promoted the product as a environmentally friendly product I pointed out the contradiction of using plastic...
  18. It was a very good talk....will take some time to digest...but after seeing the great wonder of Hampstead Heath a lot more makes sense:biggrin:, and as for ppl living really close and couldnt be bothered:thumbdown: Was it a folkband playing? I was caught up in great conversations and didnt notice! Really good to talk to you (and Bob too), some intresting thoughts and questions. Some great new Ideas that im bringing back with me from your way of managing your area.
  19. Depends on species, about one every 4 inch circumference. We used them 10 years ago alot, the said back then that degradeable plugs would be next step... I dont like roundup, I try to stay away from it as much as I can. I reckon thats the next DDT...
  20. I have a few drive-by-VTA.s lined up for tomorrow...
  21. ....and add 480 miles roundtrip to the Airport.....!!! Im a bit knackered but very, very happy, I had the best days for a very long time! I managed to get another three on my way from the airport, my fungal-eyes are sharper then ever! Thank you all for your kindness, hospitality and time. Thank you Monkey-D for taking the time to show me your grounds, truly inspirational and educational! Thanks also to your boss for allowing you to take the time to be my guide with such a short notice and to Bob and your other collegues. Thanks Cutter1 for your time and hospitality, absolute stunning place you've got there! Last, but not least a big thank you Hamadryad for opening up "Chez Hama" for a complete () stranger and for organising a great foray! Thank you also Steve for making this all possible trough this forum! (I will post a few things further on, or even start my own photo thread....but I am just to tired now...)
  22. Great pics Hama! That is just mental! Amazing stuff.
  23. Well since the company screwed up on dates and the forestchipper turned up today instead..... We just had a bish bash bosh day, got all the poplars down in three hours cut and ready for the chipper who turned up for 12.00. Closed down one lane and a pedestrian lane, managed to make a rough tidyup, using the chipper to move the logs and chip the piles that we were raking up. All done for 4 o'clock. 2 hours blowing and raking, frontloader to clear the roads and load logs into containers tomorrow, badda bing! Day and a half ahead of schedule! Thanks Kari and Felix for a cracking day!!!! And all this means I can have a couple of day off work...! Hm where was that speach held again...and a foray was mentioned...
  24. Yes we do.... The tree had been topped years ago using a mewp.... all tops were cut to stumps and lateralbranches left unreduced. The double stemmed tree has a big crack and was about to fail, it was put down as a fell...I talked them into doing a heavy retention and bracing. All branches that were reduced and were bigger then 1/3 of what they were cut back to were coronetcuts. The stem was cleaned from shoots and whole crown brought into a natural shape. Will follow up next year and keep an eye on this fella and see how it develops. Before and after.
