  1. You got my honest vote. Really nice pic!!! Top four atm.
  2. Yes I have... Reps from PIRA and UVF on a youth exchange. They were both convicted to murder and sentenced to many years in prison. Their stories was near identical.... so a coin got two sides springs to mind... Freedomfighters or not, acts of war or terrorism hurts a lot of bystanders and innocent people that does not want to be a part of the violence. This summer I had the opportunity to listen to the former Vice President of America, Rev. Jesse Jacksson, and he said some very strong and soultouching things. One quote that springs to mind is "We tried war....and it failed...., peace NOW.
  3. Well... what you say is true... BUT early christianity brought latin into this country as the priests gave mass in latin, later the german merchants and miners brought german and then it became fashionable to speak french at the royalcourt, these days the language being enriched by arabic, somali, turkish and several other languages. We do find the odd english word too.... and you find a few swedish ones in english (the Tomte and ombudsman...) My teacher told us about his visit to Japan and the conversation he had with an elderly gardener in one of their parks... latin was their common language! (thats what I have used severaltimes abroad aswell!)thats what ticked my box back then...
  4. True lind is nice and plommon! Avenbok, seen any of them? Or En?
  5. Nah... Goat willow, horse chestnut, ash, beech, willow, maple, walnut, wildcherry and whitebeam... Who needs latin?
  6. What about Sälg, hästkastanj, ask, bok, pil, lönn, valnöt, vildkörsbär and oxel? YOU know what I mean...
  7. Ok from now on I will only use swedish names on trees since this thread ruled out latin as a universal language! My Hägg is filled with caterpillars what are they?
  8. Tree surgeon Tom Connelly almost beheaded himself with chainsaw | Mail Online Nasty accident, glad he is (you are) okay! Just realized this is my nr 1000 post!!!!!
  9. Happy Birthday Gloria! Any troubles or hints you would like to share? Leaky dipers or squeaky screams? How often do put her to work and for what? Still got one for bigger stuff? My one would be used for arisings from formative pruning, the odd small tree and thinning, saplings and stuff -bigger stuff would go with lorry and crane and then forestchipper... (And yes I have read ALL previous posts about Gloria, Glenda, their siblings, cousins and their foreign relative JoBo...)
  10. ‪Magnetron Technology: The reinvention of the auto-locking carabiner, coming July 2012‬‏ - YouTube Cool!
  11. Yeah I did the "mock service" thing yesterday as it was raining, got the whole casette off and had a look.... I'm lucky cause I have a fully kitted service area with a hydralic lifting table so in that sence working height isnt an issue. I would weld the bolt to the casette though to make screwing on and off easier. I would also bolt/weld on two more tie in points for securing it to a trailer. Im thinking weather I should get the dedicated trailer or not. One idea I'm toying with is to load it sideways on the trailer and use a couple of wheliebins for chip. It would make it easy to unload... What u reckon? Whats your system?
  12. Greenmech CS 100 18Hp Electricstart. As a Hangaround I finally took the plunge and got in contact with the swedish Greenmech rep. and he was kind enough to loan me their demo machine for a few days. (Seems Greenmech do choose their dealers with care...) I must say my expectations were high, but little Glorias cousin really chuffed me! I managed to chip the equivalent of 2 trailers full of brash, and spread the mulch in the same time it would have taken me to go to the yard unloading ONE trailer. I think i´m onto a winner! BUT! You guys (and/or gals) who owns one.... Hows the little bugger holding up? Any breakages, excessive wear, funny noices or crash-and-bangs? Anyone owned it for long enough to give a full rewiew?
  13. Hows Glenda holding up?
  14. Its the 18. Really good trailer, bit slow on lowering, one would have thought since it beeing balansed it could wind down a bit faster... to many pins to lock it to the trailer. If I keep it i would rebuild the trailer and swap the hitch for a proper trailerone and attach a towingball to the trailer that the chipper attatches to, the ball could then be adjustable in height and control throwing and chute height... It could then be towed with the ATV! Easy enough to load and unload, would definatly get the trailer with the chipper. Tried it in one of our parks "The waterpark" where the only access is narrow bridges, dit a patch of 2-3" birdcherries with silky and chipper in 30 min!!!! It would have been a real PITA to drag and saved me atleast 1 hour! This job alone would make it worthwhile to buy! Giving the boss the grand show today, hope she´ll open up the wallet! Would save the department some serious money! Loppers, silky, shorts, flip-flops and a WeeChipper what a great summercombo!!!
  15. I'm fully aware that i cant be a member yet as I have this thing on loan...but can I join as a "Hang-around" or supporter? WELL IMPRESSED with my first trials, this thing will save money me thinks.
  16. Dont tell me this i news to you?!? There IS a reason why my rhubarbs are the biggest in town...
  17. The whole discussion about how girls are supposed to go to the loo is ridiculus... It used to be an argument for girls not to be allowed to do militaryservice:thumbdown: If you are competent, then youre competent! Right? Besides: Information about the Pipinette Potty A collegue swears by them! But we usually find a café that are more then willing to lend her their toilet.
  18. How smooth? Like a babies bum? I´ve seen honey kill off one branch earlier in other trees but the rest of the tree has always shown some dieback or sparse foliage. Have u seen this in Willow? Whats the tellsign (except the bootlaces...) mycelium under the bark of the dead branch?
  19. I havent climbed the whole tree, only as far as the ladders would go... I assesed the area around and the fork itself and checked the old pruning wound. I didnt check any branches for vascular wilt symptoms, but its one possibility I suppose. I will check the inner bark and cambium for signs. I have to get my kit and collegue aswell to be able climb. Phytophthora canker causes the inner bark and cambium to turn brown (or pink on some trees) with a well- defined margin, am I right? On the other hand there was no curled up and brown leaf, which is common, in my experience, with vascular vilt diseases. and shouldn´t it be some sort of bleeding of a red-brown liquid on the stem or branch? What did it look like in your tree? Food for thought indeed...
  20. Cheers M-D That's just some shrubs recently cut down and mulched. I believe there has been a tree on that side previously, but I don't know the history of it. There is a new tree in it's place that looks like it's been there some 5-10 years... No digging that I'm aware of. No pipes or cables going past. Retarmacked the paths some 10 years ago.
