  6. Will do! The two fairs runs on a fouryear cycle, every second year there is a fair ElmiaSkog is on this year and ElmiaWood in two years (2013). ElmiaSkog (Skog is forest in swedish) is the smaller one and ElmiaWood is the mahoosive one:thumbup:

    Aspen+

Since Aspen seems to be a fairly new product to the UK.... Is Aspen+ available? What is your opinion on using it for chainsaws? Have you done any performance tests e.g. tacheometer?
  12. It has to do with where the new shoot has formed Epi- outer layer, endo- inner (I think...)
  13. Sorry.... I think its the other way round... it promotes fruitforming...got carried away.. http://www.gardenguides.com/84349-prune-apple-plum-trees.html "Cut the other shoots, picking only the best five to leave. These will determine your branch system's main growth. This method of pruning will cause the very top bud to grow the strongest, but you will want more buds to grow on the lower branches, so you can use a knife to barely cut below this main bud. This tiny cut will force the lower buds to produce more heavily. When pruning, you can make the branches angle out wider by selecting which buds you want the branches to come out and make small notches in the tree bark above these buds."
  14. Niceone Josh, good to hear Mr D is treating you well! Say hi to him for me. Is that Eva in the pic? For the record... it was Mr Linneus private collection of plants and never his home. He used to bring students there and held lectures. Great spot and well worth visiting if youre in the area. Its only a tiny garden but still interesting!
  15. Yes that would be in the bark.
  16. According to old apple tree ptuningbooks a "v"-shaped notch behind a bud is supposed to promote a branch to sprout (instead of a flower) but I have never tried... a bit of fieldtrials?
  17. About 200 km north of Stockholm. So that rules out that one then:001_rolleyes: Cheers for your answer! Will still go back and have another look though, something aint right:sneaky2:
  18. Sorry for jumping the thread... But your mention of Lenzites betulinus caught my eye! This is a fungus I havent notised or (as far as Im aware) come across yet. The reason im asking is that I came across a birch that had broken off at 5-6 meters which I found quite odd as there was no obvious reason for it. There was some brittle brown rot but not much and a fungus on a branch on the other side wit a fb I quickly identified as Bjerkandera but these pictures got me thinking... Whats the implication for a tree hosting Lenzites betulinus? Does my description fit? I will have to go back and have a second look at the fungus...
  19. That other big tree is a massive one!
  20. I have a similar one, had it for about 6-7 years... Brilliant!!! The boots dryes out nicely and the leather doesent get too warm and brittle.
  21. Ah...Thanks Master Mesterh:thumbup1:
  22. Well performed Josh, sad to see the trees go in that garden... Did you see the monkey houses?
