I always wanted to know whether Kirk Douglas did his own stunts as a young man like Burt Lancaster? Particularly in the movie The Vikings, with Tony Curtis n Earnest Borgnine, the moat scene where bowman shoot heavy duty arrows into the drawbridge in a vertical step ladder pattern, then Kirk leaps the moat grabbing onto the arrows, the first of which broke, then scampers up the remaining arrows to the top, cuts the drawbridge rope, allowing the castle to be taken and thoroughly plundered! I'll never forget going to a Status Quo/Trower concert at the San Diego Sports Arena. Very rowdy days the 70's! The Arena's Security firm gave me my first thorough beating while handcuffed! Those were the days! RIP matey! Jomoco
