  1. They should call something like that The Terminator. .. maybe:D seems almost a shame to use it you'd want something like that in your living room
  2. My sister has a pool which is saline based as opposed to chlorine. Anyone else done that?
  3. Errmmmm, dare I say.... Arbor Trolley! http://www.frjonesandson.co.uk/products-page/miscellaneous/things-you-didnt-know-you-needed/stein-arbor-trolley/
  4. Sounds pretty good. Where do you attach the foot prussic to on the line. I have the new improved pantin, it seems to keep itself where it should be.
  5. I find you need to be careful, with a pantin, that you don't pop your knee, check out your technique. It can be quite knackering but better than trying to pull yourself up 20m of rope
  6. Just checked and the hitch climber holes and holes to pulley are rated to 30kn
  7. I thought you put the carabiners into the pulley. If the pulley fails on the bearing or comes apart then it's like you have 2 metal rigging plates holding it all together It looks good to me.
  8. Did you get a pantin? Invest invest invest
  9. Sometimes I find the termination end and the hitch touch and then the hitch will slip. Try and move them apart as your putting weight into your harness. As I said before I use the knut knot. ...haven't tried anything else and I usually use a bowline but with a very small loop to keep it away from the hitch. I like this setup so much that I've made a lanyard with the hitch climber. Although the difference between the thickness of the cords is not very different so just need to be vigilant as sometimes it slips a little I was up a dirty great big arse pane tree in central London today and I needed to use the other end of my rope so I got a prussic sent up. Jesus it was horrible kept slipping, did not inspire confidence at all!
  10. Giant Central London planes heat and dust. ..... man up!
  11. Fill them only 1/3 freeze solid then top up in the morning. So you get cool constant water
  12. What do you call a dwarf psychic who escaped from jail? A small medium at large
  13. Oh yeah! That's what I'm talking about! 8-)) keep em coming.
  14. Mahatma Gandhi was known to frequently walk barefoot and consequently the soles of his feet became thick and very hard. He also was, of course, known to be a man of deep spiritual conviction. He undertook hunger strikes as a political protest and at times was both thin and frail. Furthermore, due to his weird diet, he suffered from bad breath. VERY bad breath. In other words.......he was a ...... super-callused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis
  15. Perhaps get not only hooks for the ramps, but get ones with channels, so it's harder to fall off the edges... belt and braces
  16. Sizable glitch in the matrix this afternoon which caused trees to only be partially rendered http://i.imgur.com/BTQt4zl.jpg
  17. Here's a short film of why you shouldn't use a chainsaw and a fork lift truck Have you found any other gems from days gone by.. I remember one from Merrist wood called 'Tractor Action' with what sounded like Joan Collins narrating it. Any one got a copy they could post! 18. Fresh lime in soda water:D
  19. It doesn't matter what size your climbing line is as long the cord is narrower to get better grip. I'll get back to you in the next couple of days!
  20. Just tried to check what cord I use, couldn't find it, sure I got it from HB. Will check tomozza. and just experiment with length. It gets loads better with experimentation. HB has the pulley's for £22 at the mo. Get a pantin for the long haul's. You can just thrust like your prussicking. Just get one and use it.
  21. http://www.treemagineers.com/downloads/hitch_climbers_guide.pdf All you need is the special pulley good bit of friction cord, don't bother with ocean as I found it burnt out really quickly, and a couple of oval crabs. Experiment with the friction cord, use fisherman knots and adjust the length so you get minimum sit back. It's so nice to just pull the tail rather that push the prussick up. I also use TOWA active grip gloves to pull yourself up the rope without having to wrap the rope around your hand to get a grip. Hence you can also pull with both arms!
  22. I think it's great. It's light and cheap - cheap being the operative word! I only changed over around a year ago. then got the ZigZag (RIP) then went back to the hitch climber, and do you know what... I think I prefer the hitch climber. I have only used the Knut knot and I really like it. Oh and I'm 46. Is that old enough for you? Oh and I got a 150T. light weight is the way forward!
