  1. I was told an old time method of extinguishing chimney fires today by a retired scientist. Throw a large handful of salt on the fire.......apparently it robs all the oxygen ?? Will have to give this a go next time
  2. That was my interpretation upon close inspection Marc
  3. My mate has been put on alert for Thursday for snow clearance so there must be another batch expected
  4. Yes I rang them and they just offered advise over the phone. To be honest I just felt as if I were just another number to them, they were offering me standard advice. I was under the impression that basc was like a legal insurance thing where they represent you at appeal which I was told it isn't, they just offer adobe over the phone. Going back onto the police thing, I went down yesterday afternoon to collect my guns with a friend after getting them put into his certificate. When they brought them out after a one and a half hour wait, I asked if I could inspect them for damage, the officer handed them to me stating that I don't know why I'm bothering as they were not my guns anymore ??? I soon put her right. Why do they have to make such ignorant statements
  5. Leupold is a very good quality starter scope at reasonable price range Some examples here Leupold | Uttings.co.uk
  6. I'm loving the DAF Do the Bedfords still throw you through the windscreen on first touch of the brakes in a morning lol. I could never get used to that
  7. Good on you worcwuss for not jumping straight in. Do plenty of rabbiting and foxing first. Learn about different weights and type of bullet and what damage they do, trajectory, windage backstops etc etc etc first. One thing I would advise is spend as much on your scope as you do on your rifle. A rifle is no good without a good quality scope
  8. I think in principle and from a mechanical point of view, the zz is one of the best devices I have seen so far. I have been using LJ for 6 years with solid attachment eye, swivel eye and lately with a soft eye. I find the LJ jerky and not very controllable unless you help control by holding the tail of the rope, which is having to use both hands, not good if you are swinging out and down to catch a limb. Ill start using the ZZ next week, but it would take a while to use in all different scenarios to get a proper view point on it.
  9. Lol.. Have you got your beer goggles on again Felix.
  10. Haha... That was my first impression, but you have to have a cheap fall back drink for if your out with the lads and buying rounds. You can't be making them pay for the premium stuff (-;
  11. I think it was called "ripping the pish" You know, like dry humour
  12. It was The main hospital up marsh so fairly low down, farnley always cops it for drifting especially that road in your photo that runs below castle hill
  13. Btw I added a little water to the famous grouse and it transformed it, very easy to drink now, something I would choose on a night out
  14. I went to buy talisker 18 but they only had talisker 10. Highland park is supposed to be somewhere around talisker 18 on the taste chart
  15. Thats not a nose job, if your going to do it, do it proper This is my brother, although i dont always admit to it. He was drunk one night and decided it would be a good idea to try and sweet talk a guard dog, the dog took off the end of his nose and damaged his scalp the surgeons took a wedge of skin from his forehead/ scalp, left it attached and twisted it round and sewed it onto the wound, when it had taken and healed they detached it from the scalp. I havent seen him since, but apparently he looks quite normal
  16. Just went out and started the loader to clear the drive and it packed in after thirty seconds, either the diesel has froze or there's water in the trap that has froze. No way am I digging the drive out by hand
  17. Daniel.....far too much messing about with the gob for a someone with your experience, it isn't going in an art gallery.....I like the way you brush and blow off the sawdust to inspect every detail of the cut
  18. I,ve got the little middle seat in the defender, so it wasnt too cosey, I just had to move the silky out from between the seats, could have been nasty
  19. I have mown bankings of 45 degrees for years now, some quite big areas and I gave up on the mower on a rope, it's far quicker now to have a stihl backpack Strimmer and ice crampons on my boots. I now do it in half the time. If your fly mow is two stroke it will be ok but beware using 4 stroke mowers on steep banks, the proper mowers are specially designed for banking use with the oil sump bottom most so it isn't starved of oil
  20. It has been snowing now for 2 days solid with no break. I've run three stranded nurses into hospital, it's just something you have to do, poor things.
  21. Drifting now, 4ft just outside back door, ploughs ain't been out just going to run wifey into work at hospital
  22. I would imagine Jo has given it a lot more stick in two days than many of us would in two months But it does look like sharp edge damage where there is a burr on one of the metal edges
