  1. Just don't go out drinking with Dave booth, you will end up with a huge hangover and his local is full of hillbillies
  2. Aaaw bless...your so thoughtful, poor tree. Nah...I,ll just stick it through the chipper and sell the pot or maybe stick it down the wood and see how hard it is, it is an Aussie after all
  3. I was thinking of asking a school or something if they want it, seems a waste to chip it. I could deliver it in my little Arb truck (-:
  4. That's crap then, anyone got a 15 foot high greenhouse ?
  5. Been given this tree, it's always been an indoor tree and my idea is to try and acclimatise it and plant in my wood and see if it survives If anyone knows if they will stand our winters it would be helpful. I was thinking Norfolk Island Pine ??
  6. You could tell they were old trees you can hear them creaking as they lay down, just like Andy Collins
  7. Nice one Graham, but be aware, they now know there is something worth stealing. We beefed up our security when I used to sell tools, they bypassed it all by taking off roof tiles. There,s always a way past it, pir sensors inside the garage wirelessly linked to the house. Don't make it looked beefed up either. It makes them think there's something worthwhile in there and they cause a lot of damage getting past it.
  8. Just had a work out on just fuel costs versus battery life costs Electric vehicle energy / battery life cost per mile £0.11p per mile Petrol vehicle averaging 50 mile to the gallon is £0.36p per mile Not including service cost and free road tax on the EV
  9. Here Mick A dictionary of slang - "S" - Slang and colloquialisms of the UK.
  10. Did a google search on the reg no for the little truck and it brought up the last time it sold. It was sold by a dealer three and a half years ago for £11,220 with 1255 miles on the clock, the bloke I bought it off told me it has been parked up for three years in a shed ( the nobbles are still on the tyres) and with a new set of batteries it now stands me at £3k with 1276 miles on the clock, it's done 21 miles since it was last sold ..... Crazy waste of money
  11. It wouldn't bother me one bit, if it wasn't a kiddies site and they left the place clean. That's the annoying thing is they just leave crap everywhere. I wonder if this is like an advert to show its a dogging site ?
  12. Mike, the one i caught was a right minger, i wouldnt have gone near it for fear of catching rabies. There were three condoms in that little pile, the mind boggles as to what went on. I've just googled and found a 6 year old news article saying that police are stepping up patrols on my land and the road to my land as people had complained about it being used as a drug and dogging site. Police said residents had been informed and been given a special number to ring the police, the lying toe rags. Cops don't come when you want them never mind coming down voluntarily When I rung the time my containers were damaged from an attempted break in it took the three days to get back to me
  13. Haha ... There's an excuse if our lass looks on my google history (-;
  14. I,ll try and set a wildlife cam up to get a vehicle number and timings, you can bet any money whoever the guy is, he's cheating on his missus. A visit from the cops should put an end to it hopefully
  15. Anyway....do you like my drystone walling
  16. Why put it / them in a prominent place where they are easily seen unless you are purposely wanting people to see them. My yard is within the boundary of a children's area or scout camp, we are being plagued by dirty gits coming down and doing their bit at all hours of the day but I never seem to be able to time it right and catch them. What's really annoying is they leave all their crap behind, jonnies, tampax, towels, wetwipes etc just thrown out everywhere including on top of walls the lot. Last year I was working at my yard when three people told me there was a couple at it on the footpath in their car in full view and seemed to relish being seen. I called the cops, told them someone was exposing themselves and told them it was a kiddies area and two hours later they still hadn't turned up and the shaggers had gone. Last time I gave up on calling the cops and confronted the next lot, made them get out and pick up all their shite, which is probably why this is happening now. I think next have to scare the crap out of them, but then you worry about your barn being burnt down Cops are useless round here nowadays, I've given up on them Sorry it's a bit graphic
  17. I may do an experiment with this tree and cover one section in black tarp and leave the other section alone. Both sections would need to be facing the same direction, or south ?
  18. You must be bored Paul (-: I like the one with a crusty end and a soft tail six inches long that you can feel pulling up out of your lungs then feed it to the dogs
  19. I normally don't drink and had two glass,s of superstition last night, it made me very dizzy and I slept like a baby I love it though, very nice.
  20. You cannot use the VOX system on normal Pmr radios VOX is a pain, it cuts in when it detects noise and doesn't cut out again till the noise stops, so in Arb work it would be permanently transmitting one way so no-one else would be able to talk to you. The only way would be a PTT ( push to talk) system on the cheaper radios, you can have as many as you want and everyone can ear. The arborcoms are duplex as I have said above, which means they are permanently transmitting both ways at once. I can tell you with confidence that VOX will not work in arb
  21. They are full duplex and have noise cancelling which cancels out saws and chipper noise
  22. Cheers Tony Another zoomed out view, mindless vandalism (-:
  23. I think the damage was caused at least 12 months previous, for some reason the squirrels have stripped the bark on nearly every Hornbeam I have on my land, I,ve taken down roughly 100 small trees now. The only trees remaining are Silver Birch, Blackthorn, Cherry, Alder and Hazel which they haven't touched. It isn't as if I am over run with squirrels either, I see maybe two at most each day. I was thinking maybe left over cambium cells because of the teeth marks, squirrels leave a tiny ridge between the teeth. Although they strip the bark completely off, they may leave traces of cells ( whether deeper than the cambium layer or the actual cambium layer) with then try to regenerate and close off the wound ?
