  1. They tell you....like as if its something they need to tell you
  2. Yes it's the Allen, been a good mower Stevie, only thing I've found with the crampons is I get cramp from a little muscle on the outside of my calf, it must be a muscle that doesn't work much walking about normally
  3. There's no need for the language mate
  4. Yes they are zermatt gtx They do get a bit more pliable as they bed in
  5. My pfanner s have finally given up and got a hole in the sole, the uppers are still very good, if I could get them resoled I'd get another couple of years out of them. They may be £240 but they have lasted three years, not many chainsaw boots last that long.
  6. Top and bottom of it is the right client will pay the right price. I prefer the client that understands we have to do things by the book with the correct training, insurance and equipment. I target those clients, not those who want a cash job and aren't bothered about whether you have the correct insurance or not. If you are happy working for them get on with it, if you aren't and are not getting enough work in, either diversify or find another job because it won't change for the better
  7. I know Peter, I leave the door unlocked so they don't do any damage breaking in to the "heat source " Cheers lads, any help I can get will be appreciated. At the moment I have around 150 potted cuttings and I,m gradually learning what takes and what doesn't. I would like to give the hydro side a go just to see, would be interesting to find out. One of the problems I have is keeping the humidity up and roots warm, the xstream propagator does both
  8. I'd guess that around 70% aren't charging enough, it's basic business sense, work out your costs and cover them plus a bit more There's a reason why you see so many trailing knackered clapped out Chippers, wearing shredded chainsaw trousers and boots that are falling off their feet If you are charging the correct prices then you should be able to renew and repair equipment when required
  9. I'll put you up Mick..you can sleep in the kennel
  10. Could it be more that the "white van man" plumbers are forced out of the plumbing industry because of the need for corgi registration, hence the undercutting is cut to a minimum. Whereas the tree industry is totally unregulated. I do not drop my price for anybody, if someone has quote cheaper then let them have the job, I am quite open with customers about this. If I can't make what my business model requires then like Mike says, I,ll start another business doing something else that does. I have no desire to work like a pig for nothing
  11. Yes just bacatta, I took some Irish yew cuttings not so long ago and just stuck the in the ground between hawthorn hedging and they took no worries. Bacatta seem to be a bit harder to cultivate but I,m trying to find a way to speed the process up, some I have this year I,m going to keep under a low powered lamp on 12 on 12 off and keep them growing through winter. It's mainly for my own use at the moment, I need a 1000 or so and want to bring them on as much as possible. If the system works and its cost effective, I,ll then start growing to sell
  12. I,m trying to speed up my yew cutting cultivation. Even if it increased my success rate it would pay off, plus I could visibly see what had taken and what hadn't. The trouble with yew is it can be weeks before you know for definately they haven't taken
  13. Apart from the obvious "softwood" cuttings these are used for nowadays, has anyone tried them with hardwood cuttings or do you think it would work
  14. There's posts from other threads in here Anyway.....back to the OP It's definately working now
  15. The danger of shoving it up peoples noses so much is you'll either get people rebelling over it or turn them into Mongous droids incapable of rational and subjective thinking. In 50 years time we will see the population of the UK walking into brick walls and falling over curbs because no-one told them to turn left or right or stop and it will be the walls fault because it wasn't painted hi vis
  16. I do like the way she is holding the Mic though
  17. Interview at the rugby cement works this morning in the landscaped garden area in front of the reception / offices. They may get hit in the face by a koi carp jumping out the pond hence the safety glasses?
  18. I think all types are affected on the site I'm on, variegated and common. One plant badly affected 10ft away not affected??
  19. Mines the auto with anti sapphire face, I've had it ten years and the face is still as new. It's the only watch I have ever had that hasn't bust the strap or pins. Tag are cracking watches Jon, same with anything really, you get what you pay for, mine was bought in Hongkong for half the price you,d pay for one here and it was still £1200 then, no diamonds, no bling gold coating, just a well made watch
  20. Cheers Graham
  21. What's a watch ? I have a clock on my phone in my phone pocket, only wear a watch for best and special occasions, then I break out the tag
  22. Just to keep Mr Rainford on his toes ( because I know he loves this sort of thing) here's another problem with a juglans on the same site
  23. I can remember a short time back someone posting they also had problems with some holly. Having looked round the grounds there are quite a few showing signs with sparce foliage, some are showing new growth mainly on the sun side, the shade side is still sparce
  24. These holly are just a couple of a large number in the ground of a hall, some of which are showing signs of die back. Any ideas
  25. Yes..gas only and for twenty quid it's an absolute bargain, I honestly don't know how they can sell it for that sort of money
