  1. Got this today, for the money it is a really solid bit of kit. There was one on the shelf for £117 and this cheap one was far better. I don't know whether its their own make or available to any retailer. Hi Gear Inferno Stove | GO Outdoors
  2. It is but it's a private road, doesn't stop our friends nosing around though
  3. Haha, I was thinking the same Granddaughter again learning which switch does what
  4. It's Laurel and Holly David, I was wondering whether it may poison my worms
  5. Yew are coming on nicely
  6. This weekend's job, weed and mulch my yew hedge with the help of my micro truck..just the job as Jon would say.
  7. There's some work and money gone into that Bren. Be good yo see some interior shots when it done, looks really good
  8. Do polytunnels for horticulture require planning ? This one isn't going to be used for logs, just growing. I,m going to start doing yew in a bigger way. I intend to use that cover that transmits less light through as I have found that the trigger for their growth after winter is the temperature rather than light. I,m just hoping I can bring them on quicker in a tunnel
  9. Any more pics of the early stages of the build Bren
  10. No shame at all, have you got any earlier pics of the framework and stuff
  11. Have you bought the wood in or are you milling it yourself
  12. I,m not sure but I think it has to be something that worms can penetrate, I think the idea is that the mulch encourages more worms that then get to work on the upper layer of soil de compacting it ?
  13. I note different markers on the distant hills where the sun goes down at different times of the year, I then know exactly where it will set on the longest and shortest days and different stages inbetween
  14. It was a year ago now that we pruned them removing crossing, rubbing and damaged branches. You can see by the picture, I need to get this right, I'd hate for them to go into decline after my intervention
  15. Nice one Goaty, yes it is, I tried looking for that thread but couldn't remember what the title was, cheers mate.
  16. What about a partial mulch ? I try get a pic tomorrow but the layout is, the drive is 8-10ft wide, then there is a 4ft verge either side of the the drive in which the cherry trees are, then a metal fence and the mowed lawns behind. I could possibly persuade them to mulch the 4ft verges either side of the road around the bases of the trees. One of the other problems is the lawns on the other side of one of the fences belongs to someone else, so mulching on that side of the fence is definitely out of the question. Maybe partial mulch is better than no mulch ?
  17. I can try and persuade them...... What's the link the the mulching thread so I can read up
  18. Spacing is around 4-5m David, mulching is out because its a lawned area.
  19. The amount fertilisers available is mind boggling and confusing. I have an avenue of Cherry trees which are showing signs of necrosis and I did a soil test which showed: PH = 5.5 Nitrogen = 0 depleted Phosphorus = 0 depleted Potash = 4 surplus The sub soil round here is heavy clay in most places, the cherry avenue is on slightly clay soil but not too bad. There,s a Tarmac drive running down the middle of the avenue so the trees have around 60% of their root system dripline circumference in grassland and the rest is Tarmac I have asked if they salt the drive and the answer was definately no. I thought about liming the area, but want to know if fertilising would be a better option as the ph is just inside the tolerated ph of cherry trees Any advice on which, what fertiliser to use and where to buy it online that delivers to the Yorkshire area would be welcome The avenue is around 100m long with about 40 trees
  20. I've no idea tbh, I have asked a planning consultant I have employed recently and he said yes under certain circumstances, but that's as far as my questioning went. If I do I'll just apply, it is for growing trees and shrubs primarily
  21. I don't think calluses and blisters are very becoming on a girl
  22. It may help if you explain to the head that you are not looking for someone to blame, you are only looking for the source of the problem
  23. There's a place near me that recon and sell those airport fire trucks, I drove it into their workshops the other day and parked it at the side of one, the engine was bigger than my little truck. I expected all the mechanics to start laughing....was surprised as it was quite the opposite, they were all asking questions and saying it was brill
