  1. Now's the time to buy, how many times do we preach to customers about buying logs in summer and not wait till the last minute
  2. Why be bothered about fuel consumption Johny, the customer should be paying for your fuel not you
  3. Most landrovers have been messed about with and injector pumps tweaked by amateurs not knowing what they are doing, so fuel consumption figures are crap when sold on. I took my injector pump off and took it in for calibration and although I have never measured, for a landrover it is excellent on fuel. I think so many people are disappointed with fuel consumption because they are buying Motors that have been tampered with
  4. Maybe you could come out of tree work Lee, by starting exporting FJ,s because I reckon if they were readily available in the uk, the defender would become obsolete
  5. The one I have just sold was 05 and had the aircon pipe problem, the part was about £120 I think, I just didn't bother with aircon
  6. One thing is for sure, I wouldn't buy a landrover for personal use. For business use maintained as a business overhead don't mind
  7. Hold out for a bit Steve, another year or two and there'll be a lot more to choose from. There still quite a lot of very low mileage old shape about, I might even plump for one of them. After all, I have still got my custom made £3.5k air conditioned dog box for that model, it won't fit in the new shape
  8. They are not advertised compo, there are a regular feature all over the country, no need to advertise, it's like when the circus comes to town, within a couple of days everyone knows it's there
  9. I am saving up for the New Amazon, but that's for pleasure, a defender is purely a work vehicle, a tractor, they only leak oil and break down of you don't look after them, I have had my defender over 10 years and it has never broke down, why, because it is serviced when it is supposed to he and kept up yo scratch
  10. What you are forgetting when dissing the defender is readily available parts at extremely cheap prices I've just done the front discs, front pads and reconned the calipers for less than £100 and got the parts just up the road and all in stock Try that on your jap motors or any other motors
  11. At sixty quid a bottle your not far wrong Mick
  12. I was overtaking a car once on the A1 at scotch corner, the driver of the car I was over taking didn't see the Frisian cow and calf that walked into the carriageway in front of us as he was too busy gawping at me going past, he braked a split second after me and hit the cow full on. His car had similar damage as the one in the vid, he swept the cow up onto the bonnet, over the roof and it ended up back on its feet and trotted off a little bit wobbly but virtually unhurt. Driver asked me to witness it, I said yes no problem, I'll witness you not paying attention If he,d have had roo bars on he'd have splatted the cow
  13. Plant either in Sept or March in other words backend or beginning of season, I prefer beginning of season as they start to get established straight away. Most important part is soil preparation, some well rotted manure dug in well, if they are on the edge of a plantation they should do well, I have found if planted where there are already other roots underground, they establish very very quickly be cause mychorrival fungus is already there. Most important is to mulch well if you can't get to them to keep well watered in the first few months
  14. .......with the Roo bars cobba I'm always on the look out for a landcruiser Ute and came across this.
  15. You can do either, if you want a nice slim hedge but dense, just plant them single row but close, double row them if you want a wider impenetrable hedge. With mine, the hedge is intended to envelope the stock fence at the side of it for security so the fence will be hidden and it will look nice and neat
  16. Hahaha, Dave edit a video ?? He,s still inputs the keyboard with one finger and can't understand why his mobile phone has no coily wire coming out of it
  17. Been down to the yard today to find some mindless twok has pulled up some of my yews. Absolutely pointless, leant through the fence, grabbed them and yanked them out. At first I thought they had been nicked, but then found them just thrown in the scrub at the other side of the road. They had just got established as well
  18. One week on, nothing showing as yet. Changed to t5 4 tube veg spectrum lighting. Cuttings are really perky and a lovely bright green. Grown in soil they are normally droopy and looking sad by now. I'll take pics weekly to show progress
  19. I don't mind you can pm me some if you like
  20. My wife is a renal nurse, but is just changing to do health visiting, been together 27 years and she has done her fair share of dragging brash and towing plant and machinery, her best achievement by far is putting up with me for so long.
