  1. I've been asked to quote some work on some conifers, there in a front garden which is about 10' above street level. The thing is the road outside is a busy road that leads into the town centre about half a mile away, it's two lanes wide and it's just after quite a busy set of lights. I'm thinking of parking half on the pavement half on road and put some signs cones out etc. to try and make it look half organised :)

What do people think? I'm worried about getting ticketed or police troubles. There's no where else to park in reasonable dragging distance and there's double yellows too. Any advice as always much appreciated.

  2. Sorry to bring up another splitter thread but can't find the answer to this. Basically want to know what screw splitters are like compared to ram type ones. I'm gonna be building a splitter soon and it'd be a lot easier and cheaper to build a hydraulic powered screw type. Opinions please. Cheers mike

  3. If its reving high like that its normally an indication of a lean mixture. As you said previously, fuel starvation. Is your fuel filter gunked up or the line pinched at all?

I've nit checked the filter properly, but would it be improved by taking the fuel cap off?

  4. Ok just had a try and it runs ok with the fuel cap off, so I've blown of the outside of the vent, popped the top of the vent off but cant seem to get the rest out, does it just pop out? It still won't run proper with the fuel cap on and the top part of the vent off. Cheers mike

  5. Just wondering if anyone can help diagnose this problem. Was using the saw a while back when it stopped, the same as if it had run out of fuel. Filled it and tried to start it again and it will fire on cold start, then it will run on half choke but as soon as I press the trigger it stops, I was thinking fuel filter but after going into a dealer and describing it he reckoned it was the diagrahm, what do people reckon? It seems to me it's fuel starvation somewhere? Cheers mike.

  6. I may need someone on Saturday to do a job with me. It's near the Trafford centre manchester. It's a bit of a long story but I've hurt my back so if your a climber pm me your day rate and a contact number, but theres a fence directly below and a few caravans about so you need to be ok! OR if your a groundy I may end up having to do the climbing so same goes send me a pm. I'll know more tomos and will get back to people tomos. Cheers mike

  7. Cheers guys, basically it's a saw that won't get used very much, but when it's needed it'll save killing my 044. I'll see what it goes for I've checked the new prices out so know roughly what to bid. I always said I wouldn't buy another 2nd hand saw too, tho the one I did was a good'un! But it's hard to justify paying double for a new one. £400 saving is a lot.

  8. Doing it is the easy part tie it off back to the tree, clear all non load bearing limbs and brush and reverse the action it fell in is one of many ways. The hard part is covering yourself so you dont get a phone call saying that it was you and not the tree that dented, scratched of damaged in any way the caravans :sneaky2:

That's pretty much what I did, the thing was there was nothing directly above to anchor to, so when it was tied off there was the chance it could have swung back towards the tree, dragging itself along the roofs. So I tied off the other end to.

It's a storage place where I keep my trailer.
