  1. Ok I'm ready to be ridiculed for this but I'm looking at getting an el-cheapo electric chainsaw, its only going to get a small amount of use logging up at home to save annoying the neighbours using a petrol one. Any recommendations?
  2. Not a bad job! I bought one off eBay butproblem with roof mounted lights is it lights up all the bonnet too. Why don't you mount them upside down so there less vulnerable?
  3. Does that price include nptc? And is it 2days training and a day assessment?
  4. I would be but don't think they've put enough thought into waste disposal, read into the dirty building at sellafield, made me think.
  5. Bit of a guess but rover v8's have a reputation for low oil pressure and needing regular oil changes, maybe various galleries have got blocked and reduced flow to up top.
  6. I read on teletex that the 10million times figure was a mistake.
  7. Balance ac there called. Dick Leigh has them in Clitherore.
  8. There's been a few cuts at work. One went up the seem of the protection and caused a small cut. Another went through the trousers again a small cut. Both of these didn't need stitches. Another guy somehow managed to cut Another guys arm, not sure how that happened, but that needed a few sticker.
  9. We have the same, made worse bad the dog charging round on it. Next door have the same problem and had a sump dig in the garden with an electric pump, not entirely sure how it works exactly tho
  10. I got a Kamasa one from toolstation, was about 20 quid. Seems to work ok
  11. So have you guys billed them for the full amount, I was only wanting 50 quid or so for the job anyway.
  12. Yeah feel a bit better for letting off some steam. Can't help but think sometimes the arb sector is full of doorknobs!
  13. Been to do a morning work today for another company, gets there, waiting about half an hour for the to turn up so while I'm there the home owner comes out and long story short the works been put off till Monday. Rings the guy up im working for and no and no answer so rings his "business partner" who says yep its been postponed to mon. So I've wasted two hours of my morning plus £60 on a bar and chain for the job. Seriously miffed off!
  14. As above if I get the job will have a few ton of poplar, I think most of it will be logged up. Could deliver if closeby or to be picked up from the job. Pm me if interested.
  15. Yeah it was running before I stripped just seemed "not right" hence the strip down. As above for 30£ I'll probably have a go, it won't get much use anyway.
  16. This is near enough what I did, except not by using spikes. My point of view was to get a gob in as straight a part I could. The top of the tree was about a foot away from the base of the tree if that makes sense, due to the curve. So if it's felled at the bottom the weight of the tree is surely using the curve as a lever, putting more stress on the hinge, and so morelikely to snap out. This is what we were disagreeing about, rather than the cut itself. Wether it should have been felled from the base or further up.
  17. Sorry should of said the trees been felled not in the direction of the lean, Basically One went wrong today nothing serious but even though not ideal! It Needed felling 90 degree to the lean, so as your looking at the tree with it leaning left it's been felled towards you if that makes sense. So I've put the gob in as far up as I can so I'm not felling it on the bend, and left a triangular hinge bigger on the opposite side to the lean, but it's still snapped off. The tree was a syc. Another guys said it should of felled at the bottom, although a wider hinge would be achieved you'd have leverage of the tree through the bend if that makes sense?
  18. Looking to settle an argument on felling leaning trees, where the lean is in the first few feet and then straight from then on. What cut/method do you use and why?
  19. Could you measure the diameter of the round part when you get a minute. I've never had a problem with wet conny so just wondering if the chute is to small diameter on the round versions. I'll probably have a go at making one but it'll probably end up similar in price when I've done! And probably double the weight of the machine too!
  20. I'm in need of a few pictures and an Opinion or two of the rotating chute on the newer m300's. I've got an Older one and find it would be handy to turn the chute, and need to decide wether to make one or buy one for £120. Cheers mike
  21. Although a few years ago I got the cheapest through Adrian flux on a lightweight.
  22. Don't know to be honest o bought it second hand and it wasn't till I put the pole saw and extension on I got from you recently I realised something was wrong. The bore feels ok to the touch except for a bit of a "bur" hence thinking of a piston and a hone. Out of interest how much are your kits?
  23. Been having problems with an fs85t combi engine that was running bad. I've stripped it down and found the piston scored, is it with spending 30£ on a piston and giving the bore a quick hone? Or does it generally not give good results? Thanks mike.
  24. You've not seen me driving! Haha
  25. Yeah according to the guy I spoke to, all insurances rose in November, my renewal is due in may and he said be prepared for it to go up. I'm currently paying 400 for the 90 and 670 for the range rover. Though there not business use. When I asked how much it'd be to change the use of the 90 to business use he said an extra £6 for the rest of the policy! Crazy
