  1. I enjoy fabricating things so I'll enjoy doing it and I'll have something that exactly fits my needs and could if needed lift a ton. Ive been keeping an eye on eBay for a while and they go for between 100-300 ish so steves is priced right it's just I've not got 300 to spend on something I'll use a couple of times a month. Steve looks like you've sold it for £400
  2. Hi mate, yeah that's too much mate. I've found an engine crane for 50 quid. I'm a bit skint at the minute.
  3. Yeah it's an ifor with the newer type a frame. Cheers gonna have a go and see
  4. I'm interested in knowing what hedgehog flavoured crisps were like!
  5. If I bury the ash from my fire will it grow into an ash tree? Seriously though I've worked with a supervisor who thought regen' was a species and called one tree an acorn tree, it wasn't even an oak haha
  6. I've been looking at buying a crane to fit onto my trailer, mainly for lifting my Jo beau onto it. I've seen the Lucas and penny hydraulics ones but they can go for silly money, I'm thinking of modifying a folding engine crane instead. Thing is I don't want to mount it on the bed so was thinking of mounting it on the a frame? The idea was to mount a steel triangular plate on the a frame then bolt the crane onto this, and adapt it to swivel. Now I could have an outrigger for the side when i lift of the floor but I'm wondering when it turns to go on the trailer is it going to be too much stress on the a frame? I think the chipper weighs 120 kg ish. Hope that all makes sense Oh should mention I am aware of the noseweight etc. Cheers mike
  7. Not sure on the point your trying to make there mate?
  8. The exemption is for vehicles under 7.5t train weight, where it it's used for part of the drivers work AND where it's within 50k of base, it's not an exemption based soley on distance
  9. But that would be on the van if you were towing the chipper?
  10. This was the part I was looking for on a vosa publication https://online.businesslink.gov.uk/Transport_Theme_files/Goods_vehicles_tachograph_hours_0511_2.pdf
  11. Like I said the ntta has the same diagram which I suspect would be where indespension got it. As far as I know indespension have nothing to gain as to wether a vehicle has a tacho or not as they don't fit them. As far as hire or reward, most things dvla etc. that refer to hire or reward are for when your paid to do that, so in the case if a minibus I can drive one if mates are in it stag do etc but not as a taxi as that's hire or reward. Same with the trailer side, hire or reward would be if you were being paid to move the trailer or something on it. If it's for the drivers own use,ie it's needed to do the job then tacho isn't needed.
  12. I found this chart on both indespension and the ntta website
  13. I've not read all the posts in this so apologies if this has been mentioned but I'm pretty sure you are fine towing over 3.5t if it's for your use in your work so a chipper would be ok and wouldn't need a tacho. I think the tacho comes in more when it's for "hire and reward"
  14. Whos that? Think I'll be watching more if that too!
  15. Just wondering if anyone uses this type of clamp I was fitting it the other day and it seems to me if the trailer was jacked off the clamp would come off? Is that right, can't see it being, but it looks that way to me.
  16. Quote, turbotoolman Did someone actually pay you to remove this tree??? I guess the entertainment value alone is worth something. Jun 14, 2010 Haha
  17. Presume he means in low box where the torque can bust things
  18. Yep its fine to leave the hubs in, although it defeats the object of them, saying that I don't think they save much in mpg anyway in the grand scheme of things!
  19. Hi just wondering if there's any work going tomorrow preferably Manchester area? Cheers mike
