  1. Ha ha! Would love to - I'll ask again but with the tooling they have available 46" is still the longest bar they can make...
  2. Oh - yep forgot that I'll get a 10" carving bar for the MS150 - this will run the 1/4" .043 chain but alas to get a bar that has a 1/4" nose will not be possible in the short term... ... they would have to make a new mould - approx cost £6,000-00! I expect it will get done in the end but Stihl have cornered the market with their 10" 1/4" sprocket nose bar. 15" for the MS260 - I've got the 14" and 16" - only thing is I'd have to buy 30x 15" bars - anyone else want one of these? Everyone and everything seems to be moving away from Stihl at the moment in the mid range - it's all Husky husky husky at the moment!
  3. They do have a planer attachment blade which looks really good but I think is a lot of cash! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpM8urbBZ40]Portable Sawmill - Planer Blade for Smooth Boards - YouTube[/ame] You can almost use the existing circular saw blade on the Peterson to do the same thing and re surface and flatten a wide board... ... but as you said all it will want to do is cup again! I constantly get e-mails ref people wanting a large slab for a table top... trouble is: they want pics of beautiful finished slabs from all different angles has to be right size for what they want has to be right colour for what they want price puts most off to make a real go of it you'd need x30 finished tops or examples for them to pick from you waste a lot of time explaining how 'wood works' (although I now send a standardised e-mail about this - the genuine inquiries take the time to read it) As already said - saw and dry the wood as quarter sawn then after they are dry plane and join - less waste, less hassal, more stable!
  4. Putting together the next Sugihara bar order - any requests? Was going to get the following: 12" and 14" light type bars for T540XP more 15" light type and pro bars for Husky 550 and 560 (almost sold out of those already) range of spacers that will allow bars to go on a larger range of saws - oiler holes may have to be drilled but at least you have the option 18" light type for Husky 372 increased stock of most other bars already in the range

    Kauri NZ

Good work - have been over a few times and visited the Kauri museum - a pretty sad story - even more important to save what's left.
  6. Thanks for the order Scott - remember to put in arbtalk as the voucher code for a freebie - have e-mailed Andy who packs the mills that you're an arbtalker so hopefully he'll get the message in time.
  7. Sorry - only just seen this! Give me a PM if you did not get a freebie. Rob
  8. 026 and 260 should have the same mount... What is it about the bars the is causing them not to fit? Pics would be useful and any info written on the bars that don't fit...
  9. Thanks Morten - although there are a fair few non business customers who request that I use Royal Mail...
  10. Thanks for the feedback - yep I think the save edge files are the best out there... Grinder does take a while to get used to but it grows on you!
  11. I have got some 3/8" nose bars... you can buy from here Products for the category: Special Offers These have the K095 husky mount - although the sprockets are replaceable the 3/8" pitch nose sprockets are larger than the .325" - ie. you can't take a .325 nose off one bar and change it for a 3/8" nose on another... Don't have them on the main selectors as causes confusion...
  12. You can get all the pricing here Guide bars the light types are a few quid more than the solid ones.
  13. Unfortunately does take a long long time - at least 4 months I'd say...
  14. Pretty much as strong as the solid version except if you were to bend it you may pop the resin inserts out! Where as you can sometimes bend a solid bar back into shape.
  15. Good stuff - I'll be weighing the bars over Xmas to compare the pro bars with the light type bars.
  16. Done lots of Xmas markets this year... Lots of chopping boards, tea light holders, and a few shot glass trays... It's tricky pricing things - the best way to do it is keep overheads low, production low and prices high IMO... I've tried to upscale things this year - you can sell x20 items easily, x1000 items is very hard.. you end up having to go through retailers - time consuming and painful! I'm throttling back on the wood side of things now - just not got the time... would rather do as a hobby and sell a few bits here and there....
  17. Will soon be setting up the next order of Sugi bars - will be getting 100 of the 15" sugi light types for Huskys... also laminated lightweight version... If you want one of those don't leave it too long as by far the most popular length and mount ie. 15" light type for Husky 550,560, 346 etc What other bars are people after? (bear in mind have to order x30 a time) - was going to get 18" for 372s (already have 20"), 12" and 14" for the new Husky top handled, 10" carving bar for MS150 (that will run the new Stihl 1/4" .043 chain)... ... any other suggestions? Will do a separate thread on this over Xmas..
  18. That's an idea - the main people affected are those that live in areas outside of mainland UK... In the end I think I'll have to look at a way of cross referencing postcode with price of order.... Also I'm not sure if you can legally say 'delivery at your own risk' ie. as a seller you have a legal requirement to refund if someone does not receive their order.... would have to look into this...
  19. I had x3 parcels go missing in one month and that was enough for me.... So depressing all round - all x3 had to be re sent... one turned up x2 weeks after it should have - had to pay the postage to get the customer to send it back to me!! Compensation? You can only claim after 6 weeks and then it is long winded and limited in amount.
  20. Yep - I know what you're saying and it's been said before hence this thread.... http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/chainsawbars/63176-delivery-costs-explained-csb.html I've spent a long time thinking the best way to do it... and still come to the same conclusions... That said - I am happy to send by Royal Mail and charge what they charge - but you must take the hit if it does not reach you. I use x2 printed labels with sellotape over this.. but this has still not guaranteed that they reach you... I should be getting some more save edge files in shortly...
  21. Doesn't look quite like a burr to me... more a convoluted re growth around an old wound... interesting non the less!
  22. Ditto - got the oregon one - put a carving bar on it but it is a pretty heavy thing for starters... good for inside the workshop and when you don't want much noise.
  23. Come on - let's have a few whys and wherefores then?
  24. They look better than any other bar and they seem stiffer and better made.... Their light type bars are some of the best light types in the world - ok not huge weight saving (I am doing some weighing at the mo.... but still not finished ). Do they last longer? Yep - the rails are tempered as hard as is possible to be. But any advantages are subtle really - a guide bar is a guide bar - but if you want a nice one - buy one of the light type pro bars. Only problem is am already running out of the 15" K095 mounts and from ordering to unpacking is a long time...another order going in soon though.
  25. What's the model number? Have a look here and if it is a K095 mount or D009 mount you're in luck! OREGON®: Selector Guide Can PM me or e-mail me if you need more help [email protected]
