  1. We are local authority, all our work is within the city limits, if we cross them the van and chipper turn to fairy dust!! The guys work on highway trees, all the parks, green open spaces and the cemeteries in and around the city. As for the chipper, I love it...she's my baby! lol
  2. Not the most exciting job we've ever done.....But still, pays the bills.
  3. You should see the girls who work there! It really is worth it....honest! I could take the camera with me i suppose, that'll be a first for this forum..
  4. Jesus, Mother of God!! That looks Nasty! Makes mine look like a scratch....! I'm in for more pain this aftrenoon....off for a back-wax! :scared1:
  5. Working in a car-park, line of 4 cherry trees and some bugger planted Western Reds between them. We had the job of removing them....Last tree, growing under and within the canopy of the cherry, did a step-cut (with the hope of doing many more step-cuts!) in order to bring it down vertically.... Silly dam thing falls on my leg!
  6. I've been to every show inc. this one for the last 7 years. It was noticeably quiet this year, not even a 'mog to admire. The thing that got to me was extortionate price of the food! I wouldn't mind paying £3 for a burger if it was cooked properly, but over cooked burgers and cold chips is not on! Did anyone hear the hourly prize draw for the stihl helmet ?? I was there all day and didn't hear a thing!!??
  7. Just thought I'd give an update on the Chestnuts....so far, so good!
  8. Reading the story it seems un-clear...Did the bust hit the tree or did the tree/branch hit the bus? Could be 'summer branch drop'. Most of the Planes are pollarded down that way....Very, very bad-luck!
  9. Its was no where near Worcester, last year it was held just outside of Evesham. This year the APF is being held at Cannock Chase (as I understand) Good day out, mostly forestry stuff but some arb trade stands.
  10. From a employer point of view I'd reccomend going for cs39 next, together with a first-aid certificate. Then i'd perhaps getting your brush-wood chipper cert'. You can then go for cs32, cs34 and 'windblown as and when time and finances allow.
  11. I'll put my money on Laetiporus sulphureus. It looks very young and tasty! Never seen it on Prunus before though...
  12. Nice one I'm in agony at the moment (i spiked down the tree and the lower part cas coverd in ivy...my feet slipped and I've pulled my back) Bugger!
  13. Your absolutely spot-on Andy...Top Man
  14. We're talking about the 'love' only dedicated Arborists feel for one-another Tom is a nice lad, we've taken him on as an apprentice, (doesn't even shave yet!) Chris, in the middle was a good 'catch', and I'm lucky to have him. Richard was seconded to the team just for the day (he's an old’ forester type) I've been here 7 years now and still very keen to lead by example and not spend too much time behind the desk (although I wish I had coz my back is killing me today!)
  15. Missed this one out...There is alot of 'love' on our team!
  16. Thanks guys, always a little nervous posting my pics on here...in case I get ripped to shreds!
  17. They were two thirds dead, def' passed from stress into strain...Why, Lord knows...there are several more that are looking suspect though so watch this space...
  18. Today’s job...Two pine trees (pics are of the second one as they are better quality). They were both very close to a busy trunk road (and bus lane). I had to dust down the 'spikes, took all the branches off, felled the tops out and then in was a case of putting a pull rope up and felling the main stem. I think I even remembered to put my ear defenders and visor down for the photos Comes to something when I have to have an extra guy on the job to act as an 'Arb-Talk' photographer!
  19. DVLA Web site http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/DriverLicensing/WhatCanYouDriveAndYourObligations/DG_4022547
  20. Hi Tony, Its just by the rowing club, past Sabrina Bridge.
  21. Thanks for the feed-back guys! I might go for the '18, still trying to come to terms with the huge increase in price!
  22. Hi, sorry to bring MEWPS up again but I'd love some feedback on the Leo 15GT by Teupen. We have the finances now to buy so just wondered if anyone had experience in this make and model ? Cheers
