  1. My fixed-rate came to an end on 31st October, just fixed up a tracker with HSBC...I'm chuffed !
  2. Oh those two weeks...how I long for them ! I've been 3 years now without a proper break and recon I'm over-due There is some woodland at Defford and I always used to spend time down there around Christmas time coppicing Ash....very good therapy! Chris is ok, he’s still got back problems and might be moved off the team (I really don’t want him to go as he’s a natural) Tom the apprentice has just passed his climbing, he’s got his felling so there is one more to go and then he’ll start getting useful! (as long as he can turn up for work on time) I’ve got to get my arse out into the parks surveying. We’ve bought some new software and I’m going to have to (begrudgingly) leave the team to get on with it for a while...
  3. Looks good.... there is a large area of blank red space at the top of the page though..?
  4. So do I !! We still have the Arbor-Eater sat in the yard - Prob worth bugger-all these days...
  5. ....It was two years ago buddy (how do you like the old chipper?!) I've been back with a hedge-trimmer in the summer to 'crown raise it I've got a few Pop's with Laetiporus on around the city...keeping my eye on 'em at the mo'
  6. Thanks mate How's work these days? Got plenty on? I feel like starting the wind-down for Christmas...I'm worn out!
  7. You've got talent Bart ! Are you from an Arb background or 'Art' background ?
  8. This is turning back the clock a few years….. Willow down on the riverside. The spot is used frequently by picnickers, and the old girl was showing signs of reaction grown under some of those main limbs. We had two other Willows of the same age near-by, one was lost due to a massive limb failure and the other one just blew over! I thought this one deserved a little time and effort and hopefully it’ll be around for a few more years…
  9. Thats a stunning photo Well done!!
  10. Did you hear about the chap who had an allergic reaction to the fungal spores within the chippings he was shovelling…. ? Hi died! :scared1:
  11. Yeh I noticed the fruiting bodies, but show me an Oak that age that doesn’t have any.... That tree didn't look much of a hazard, esp. that there was little-to-no target. No Target, No Hazard…..Un-less you count farmer Giles passing in his tractor once-in-a-while
  12. Thats up-set me watching that vid ! The poor Oak, been sat there for 100's of years minding its own business till 'Jonny-chainsaw' comes along! If that was in one of my formal parks i wouldnt have cut it down, never mind in a field :confused1:
  13. Your right...what a lovely tree, shame to fell it! Crown looked healthy, and no target as far as I could see.....Shame
  14. Just to confirm- that was a modern video. The guy who shot it was the chaps’ grandson who said on you-tube that he had been in the trade for 50 years or more !
  15. Thats crazy ! I'll do anything (and have done) for £150!
  16. ...Push yourself a little more, you'll get more experience then and improve your profit margins
  17. :congrats: Well said! I think its up to the employer to take a newly qualified climber under their arm and bring them on. I wouldn't recommend contract climbing to any freshly qualified climber as they may well be under pressure (maybe self induced pressure) to perform and go well out side their comfort zone. We all know what might happen then...Accidents! When these guys (and girls) come out of college they hold the (minimum) qualifications to start in this industry, if they think otherwise then its up to us (and the colleges) to put them straight. Qualifications mean nothing without experience.
  18. Yeh, maybe I did. I'm just a little sensitive these days when it comes to PPE and the lack of it as seen in the vid. The sensitivity is caused by the many accidents our industry has seen recently. I’m also concerned at how we portray ourselves to others (HSE for example) The guy should be criticised, not congratulated.
  19. I'm normally out on the bike first thing Sunday mornings....but its pi55ing down out there !
  20. Just vid of your average farmer with an old saw he prob bought from a farm sale the week before....Why the hell someone made the effort to film him is beyond me
  21. Hello mate, We do a 37 hour week (I'm actually doing approx 1 extra hour per day) I then claim this back at the end of the month....in the form of time off, never bother with over-time.
