  1. Can't understand how that happened. That area probably has a number that busses every minute. Why did that bus impact a branch and not the one before it? Where was the offending branch? All the trees looked to have clearance above the public transport.
  2. Cheers Reg. Dry weather and a bit of sunshine make nearly all jobs much more enjoyable. Whereas the day before we did 6 much larger ones in the wind and driveing rain. In a strange way it was enjoyable but would have been sublime in the dry.
  3. Apparently, according to Brad snelling, exhaust mod and advance of the timing by 6degrees is the best you will get out of the saw. I sent him a message on Facebook asking how to advance the timing by 6 degrees... He responded by saying you have to advance the timing by 6 degrees! Bloody engineers.
  4. Do a few cuts, remove plug and look at the colour. Replace plug do a quite a few more cuts, remove plug. Adjust carb according to the colour of the plug.
  5. Nice vids John. What Gopro is it and what settings? Just wondering as there is a big black border around the footage. Cheers Didn't fancy the bone mate?
  6. 48 of the buggers Josh. Ill be seeing Beech in my sleep..!
  7. Good comparison there mate. I did mine quite some time ago and the difference s like night and day! Also bear in mind that after you modded the exhaust the taper of the timber is getting fatter and it still cuts much quicker.
  8. Standard 10" bar on the 150 Robert. It has had the exhaust modded though and a retune.
  9. Haha cheers Dan.
  10. Music is 'Dogs got a bone' by the beta band. Cheers
  11. .....
  12. Cheers Dave. As I said earlier it isn't for me for every job, but it has its place.
  13. Cheers John, how are you getting on with the bone? Is it getting much use or are you in the tractor most days?
  14. Cheers Paul, The silky is the largest Sugoi. The 150t is exhaust modded and cuts great. The rope was Cougar Blue. The tune was 'Dogs got a Bone' by the Beta Band... I thought it appropriate for the pace of the vid and the fact it features the bone. haha.
  15. I am not a full convert to SRT yet Jay. Something's I cannot get my head around climbing on it. Definitely it has its place though and is uses less energy getting up trees. Helps if you can use a throw line though. As with all things it is knowing when to use it or stick to what is known. The bulldog bone is great. For a mechanical device it is very hitch like IME. Seems good and consistent in the wet. That was the first real climb on it in The dry. I can see it getting used more than my rope wrench from now on.
  16. It is pretty easy but I had cold hands in the morning so it was a bit of a fumble.
  17. I think i paid just under 200 quid inc delivery. 285$ If I recall.
  18. Thanks for the comments. Darrin, the work was minimal and only some crossing branches were removed due to budget. I didn't remove the one you caught in the frame and mostly we removed hangars and the deadwood. David, you are correct all work was on safety grounds. There is a shoot on the site plus public footpath so the main concerns were above those areas. The removal of dead wood plus the finishing cut is probably more an aesthetic thing. One thing in favor of creatures you mentioned was we did leave quite a few stubbs if they had already lost branches, rather than cleaning them up.
  19. Jesse did a vid a while back of pruning some oak trees recently in Germany. It was mentioned in that thread that I had an avenue of Beech trees to deadwood and various other bits and bobs. It was a dry day and sunny so the go pro came out. Not actually a lot of work to do in the tree compared to some of the others, mainly treecare, deadwood and removal of some hangars. It was also the first day I have climbed on the Compact bulldog bone with a clean rope. It isn't the usual crash bash type clip, more of a relaxed pace showing pruning. Some might find it boring but it makes a change and you can't please everyone. The whole climb time was 21 minutes for starting to film to hitting the deck, but I managed to capture some of the bone in action. The bulldog bone gets better with every climb, or that could be me just getting more used to it. Anyway, on with the clip, set to HD and hope you enjoy. [ame] [/ame]
  20. I burnt out some Sirius hitch cord in one climb on a VT and ropeguide. Even cheap cord last longer never IME.
  21. I think I may have been mentioning that for about a year The less stretch the better for SRT.
  22. So you liking the cougar blue Al?
  23. No it doesn't! Bummer really as I have rings and tenex to splice a cambium saver style rigging sling but it won't fit. I guess it would for a 12 mm rope.
