  1. I find so long as you sharpen your gaffs before you start euc's are good to spike.
  2. Each to their own, but I wouldn't want to slip and land on one! I prefer peg free
  3. All those pegs really scare me
  4. Do you mean you had 2 days to do the job, and thought a MEWP was faster?
  5. If I was in the street and I saw three 5 year olds killing a 3 year old should I act to help the child? I have the ability to stop it as I am bigger and stronger than they, so in my mind I have a "responsibility" to act. To claim I would be removing their "free will" is utter nonsense!
  6. Where was the free will of a woman in Zimbabwe, who in front of her family had both her breasts cut of and was then burnt to death? If there is a god I can't forgive his lack of action!
  7. You get paid £20 per load for chip:001_cool:????????? or you pay £20 per load to tip ?????????
  8. Could you dig out at one side and cut the roots, then winch over leaving some of the root in tact?
  9. Why does "God" not "heal" Zimbabwe, or at least kill Mugabe ?
  10. I always cut up the willow and poplar so they can get it in their car, always leave the ash in BIG lumps:sneaky2:
  11. Cheeky Bugger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. I used to be a member then I thought I'd get AAA, when I read the criteria I was appalled, it is more like becoming a franchisee than joining a trade organization, I let my membership laps
  13. This is interesting stuff! Cheers again:icon14:
  14. Spot on! Dean. Their is no more guarantee that an AAAC won't bend the rules, so they will need to be spot checked, re climbing groundie etc, as should all contractors, if it's in the spec.
  15. The council can simple draw up a very tight specification for all contractors, which states all the requirements, H&S , waste control, etc, its not rocket science. This will open the work to far more contractors, more competition, better prices, OUR money will go further, so more work can be done or maybe lower council tax!, no sorry I'm being silly now.
  16. AA member? or AAAC ? BIG DIFFERENCE!
  17. The gray squirrel is, I believe, the single largest threat to our woodlands, the damage they do to our young and semi mature trees is horrendous.
  18. Thats what I do too Steve, but some would call it "bad practice" or a "bad habit" and if you did it on an assessment I believe you would fail. I feel this is just one of the areas where the things we do in real life which help prevent fatigue and are in real terms safe practice are not recognized by the training and assessing body's and others,IMO. If I am wrong please feel free tell me.
  19. Well worth knowing, cheers!
  20. In your opinion !, but who made you and other assessor's "god" and said your way is the best way ? If I've been doing it my way for 12+ years without incident, what gives any one the right to say its "bad"? OK telling employers how young worker have to do the job is one thing, the employer has a duty of care over them, but I am self employed so who's business is it if I put myself at risk ? and if it is someone else's business why is smoking legal ?
