David, I am a climber,its who I am and what I do.To me using a MEWP is like a runner catching the bus, I just don't get it . I know alot of the guys on here are "Arborists" first and are not so bothered how the job is done, be it MEWP of climb. But for me I am a "tree Climber" first and an "Arborist" second, if I had to stop climbing I'd be off. Each to their own:grinning-smiley-003:tee:

My opinion for what it's worth ( which I'm sure ain't much ) You did as you were asked, it's not YOUR tree, if you had not done it they would have got someone else to and they may not have got the shape that you did, and they may have left rips and tears.( but then some would say thats good ) I would have done it, if I could not talk the client into another option. I think you did the best job that could be done under these circumstances:icon14:

Good point! As I only have one man he has no one to talk to, so he just gets on with the job, if we can get the mog near the tree he will often have 90% of the brash chipped as it comes down.

If you have an employee climbing then yes, but as it's my firm and I climb there is no requirement, and even the HSE have no problem with it as I have asked them.

Sharpened my 25" 66 today and timed it (not something I've done before)I gave each tooth 3 strokes of a nearly new file and took down the raker's by to strokes with a flat file, from start to finish just over 4 minuets.

:confused1:Why should I be made to change the way I work, what else is going to change? the way a tree grows? or what it's made from? Just be honest its to keep you guys in work:thumbdown: Other industry's may need to refresh as the things they work on change, ie, plumbers working on new boilers etc, I don't see trees changing any time soon.
