  1. "hinge cut to miss the shed" where was the hinge? Glad you know just how much of that was wrong. As has been said you were more than a little lucky with that one, an old joiner told my dad when he was an apprentice "there are 99 ways of doing a job right and only one way of doing it wrong" and much of that was wrong:thumbdown: Thanks for your honesty and for sharing:001_cool:

    Holiday

Last few years instead of taking 2 weeks off, I take off Fridays and Mondays making 4 day weekends for the 6 weeks of the school holidays, works out same as 2 weeks. I find doing this means the holiday feeling lasts longer, I don't let down important clients if they ring I fit their work into the tues, wed, or thus. We tend to plan day trips to different places.

  8. Thrush?????????????? You should have tried yogurt instead of felling.
  9. I alway dress smart casual when looking at work, but as Jason says, I ware whats comfy when I go to do the job, the way you work will soon show if your a pro or not. One thing I do is tell the customer that it will be me doing the job, I do not send a crew, me and my man are the crew.

Hell of an assumption!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have done a good deal of work with a licensed bat handler and have a good knowledge of what to to look for, I know a bit about the one day training courses and to be honest,IMO, you can find out all the info you need from books or on line.

  13. Nice pic Rupe, but as this appears to be a picking thread, I don't like the peg below you. But then, I HATE PEGS!!!!!
  14. My dad and brother are both joiners, they are always busy and nether of them have ever had to do any advertising or have a sign written van, their are so few good trades men that they are in very high demand. One tip I would give is never engage a "builder" there is no such thing, if you go onto a building site and ask for a "builder" they would look at you blank!. There are brickies, joiners, sparks, plasterers, ext. If some one calls them selfs a "builder" you may find they are a jack of all trades and a master of none.
  15. Mani, do you have a cabstar ?
  16. but I would not of put a pull rope on it. But it does not make another way wrong.
