  1. Yes!!! But your also missing that sinking feeling you get when the job does not go so well or the chipper starts to make a funny noise
  2. Are they the sort of pressups where you keep your hips on the floor?
  3. Good job! But that is gonna grow like hell!
  4. IMO, we are just at the inevitable end of a cycle, people have been living on borrowed money, believing that the increase in the value of their homes would cover the borrowing. How ANYONE could think that house prices could just keep rising is beyond me, I have been saying for the last two or more years why do people keep paying stupidly high prices for houses, people seemed to think house price rises was a good thing the only people who win are the banks, estate agents and a few who sold and moved into rented. The whole of the boom that has just ended was fueled by house price bubble so now that has burst we have gone into a slump The lack of liquidity is down to the fact that much of the money that was spent in the boom did not exist, because if you remorgaged your home for an extra £50K and spent that money now that your home is no longer worth the extra £50K where did the money that you spent come from?
  5. so you think their are two separate problems?

    Maiden

Not many "maidens" left, too many of us running around with our choppers!
  17. Are you speaking from experience??
  18. Have they given you a spec for the dead wooding? If its for safety I normally say I will remove all dead wood that is either 3" thick and larger or 6' long and longer. Not much point removing dead twigs for safety.
  19. The fact that a tree is hollow is no reason, IME, for not using a big gob. You just leave two THICKER hinges at each side, no problem, its just the same as the letter box cut. The reason I would have used a large gob would have been to make it go over easier, as Ed has explained. Its very simply about fulcrums, if you get a tin of beans and put it on a table and put a pencil 1/4 of the way under the tin, try pushing the tin so that the edge of the tin in front of the pencil touches the table. Now move the pencil to the center of the tin and push the tin again, it will require much less effort.
  20. How do you know?? Have you observe these these people trying to teach and failing?? I think it would be more accurate to say it is said by people who "DON'T TEACH" But its hardly going to be said by someone who does teach, now is it.
