  1. I was thinking of you when I made some of my posts. You seem to have had it REALLY TOUGH of late.
  2. I know that and you know that But Tommer seems to think different
  3. How is that different from engaging the front axle on a Hi-lux???????????????????
  4. The other farmers did not go bust, they just moved out of milk. Over the years, beef, lamb and milk, have all had good times and bad. He has alway stuck with them all.
  5. Alex Price would be the man to ask. He may well even know that machine. Is it a 1200?
  6. I've never used one, but I have heard they are VERY good!!!!!!!!!
  7. I am EXACTLY the same mate!!! But are these other firms already at the stage where if they don't win THIS JOB they have NO work?????????? After reading many of the posts on here, regarding lads being laid off, etc, I think some are
  8. What you need is a Disco 3 or 4 with traction control!!!!
  9. A hi-lux is rear wheel drive, for 4x4 you engage the front axle. A landy only divers ONE wheel on ONE axle until you engage the center diff lock. So not much difference. MOST 4x4's are a con, as they only EVER drive 2 wheels, 1 on each axle.
  10. Absolutely!!! BUT, what would you do if you got an email like that after ever job you quoted?? And were winning NO work??? I don't think that will ever happen, but we are talking "what if's" here.
  11. The dairy farmer next to me kept going through all the bad times. Most of the others round here gave up. He has now doubled the size of his herd, put in a modern automated milking parler and got a feed wagon. He is doing very well. He has alway done dairy, beef and sheep. His argument is "when one is down, often the others are up". I am lucky in having good paying work. Would I work for a loss for a while to KEEP my business??? Lets hope I don't have to find out.
  12. At the end of the day profit is profit!!! It easy to make none!!! We are unfortunately in a very competitive industry. There is a HUGE gap between what I would like too make and what I actually make. And just at the moment I think I am quoting against some people who are running the firm at a loss. But if they have over heads of say £200 a day and do nothing, each day they are losing £200, if they work for £150 they are only losing £50. So can I really blame them for trying to stay afloat till the good times return???
  13. Just wait till he's feeding the chipper and stick a long whippey branch in next to him You know the the ones, the trash you as you try to retreat
  14. A little harsh to find fault with the device when we do not know if it was being fitted and used in accordance with the manufactures instructions, IMO. Also I would imagine SWL are over loaded to determine at what load it will "fail" not "move". I doubt very much that an "overloaded" device would fail its test for "movement".
  15. Looks great!!! Do you mind me asking what sort of money a good second hand mill like that is fetching??
  16. He did say "shock loading with a piece of 500kgs" so, distance dependent, he would be exceeding the SWL by a fair way.
  17. You could do with a bit more gear mate. Looks like you had a great time.
  18. Looks more like an "Alan" too me
  19. Sorry, PHEW!!!! I thought you had bought it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Truly AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! My wife reckons if you had not made the boobs so big it would not have split, LOL!!!!!!!!! But I reckon it was well worth a it of bolting and glowing too have them!!!!!!
  21. skyhuck
