  1. So how would you slab this down??
  2. But surely spike are what give you that very thing!! With spikes you have a foot hold WHERE EVER you need one, not making do with a peg where there happens to be one.
  3. Indeed?? But ladders are OK????
  4. Up until recently petrol had become a fair bit cheaper than Derv, but it more or less the same price now, so I would imagine LPG will become more popular again. I also think a change of government may help, one of the big problem this the current lot is they have to clearly stated direction (tax wise) in which they are moving. So people find it hard to make long term investments based on current taxation, as we just don't know what will change next. As Mick says many have held back from LPG because of that.
  5. Nothing to do with ego mate For me its about safety and efficiency, if you go for a swing and hit one of those pegs its gonna be nasty , even a bit of a slip onto one would hurt. I don't know why some people "kick" or bang their spikes in ?? If they are sharp and inserted at the correct angle you body weight will simple push them in. On the efficiency point, with pegs you will either have timber with pegs sticking out or lots of pegs to cut off and chip. I'm only saying what I choose to do, BUT we thankfully live in a free country (sort of) so every one is free to do the job any way they wish!!
  6. Happy new year to one and all!!!!!!!!!!
  7. They didn't even asked me for a price mate. I think they only put out to tender stuff you guys won't have time to get to. You would think they would be better looking at each job and deciding which jobs would be best suited to yourselves or a contractor. Looks like you did a good job with the limited gear available, nice one!!!
  8. Saw it again yesterday, in imex and 3D. I honestly think I preferred it in 2D. In 3D the detail seems poorer, I don't know if its because of a limit to the amount of information that can be carried, so if some is used for the 3D less is available for fine detail?? Also with the 3D only the close action is in focus, the back ground is blurry. To me this has the affect of making it feel less real and more like animation. I felt as though the director was telling me where to look, instead of me pleasing myself. Don't get me wrong it was a fantastic visual experience, but I found the 2D more absorbing and real feeling.
  9. You have them too Just go click on "more".
  10. I got that feeling I wondered if lots of little creatures are fleeing as the tree I fell comes crashing down
  11. .NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pegs are the work of the devil!!!!!!!!!
  12. Thats what I find, the pills take the edge off and severe pain stops you doing any real damage. I don't manage to get through as much work, but it stops me seizing up and keeps some money coming in.
  13. I had it for over 2 years, I don't think I was as bad as some of you guy. I used one of those neoprene sleeve support things and took ibuprofen and just carried on. It drove me crazy, thought I would end up changing career, then it just went. I have never found resting works for me, I prefer to just keep going, I do the same with my back, if it goes I put on a weight lifting belt (so tight I can only just breath) take pills and keep going.
  14. Booked in for tomorrow AM in the imax at Bradford media museum. Only saw it in 2D first time, so looking forward to the HUGE screen 3D experience!!!
  15. Sorry to hear that. Must be a real loss, but also a responsibility lifted from your shoulders. I really have no idea how you must feel, so I won't pretend I do. I wish you all the very best and hope you are able to do some of the things you would like.
  16. This is such an interesting thread. I really don't get any feeling of being looked down on in any way. If anything I have been amazed at the amount of respect and admiration I have received over the years. Maybe its because I came into the industry from the very bottom, with no expectations. I have never been to college, I learnt on the job or taught my self. People often praise our work and I earn far more than I ever dreamt I would.
  17. It was with my tea (nice bit of fillet steak and home made chips) if thats any defense
  18. How nice is that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Arbtalk is great!!!!!!!!!! Sorry I've been on the rose
  19. Yes, hair dressers. Can you have a "limp wristed" woman??
  20. At least his clients won't be kept waiting at the salon.
  21. Each chain will be bedded in, in the manor I described when new and left on till its buggered I NEVER take a chain of unless its knackered. I fit a chain (in the manor I have described) and then use it till its done. IME its quicker (and more cost effective) to sharpen a chain than change it. I must be very quick at sharpening chains OR very slow at changing them?? I'll you decide which:sneaky2: Another advantage to putting extra oil on a new chain, is you need to rev the saw and get the chain bedded in order for you to tension the chain correctly, just putting the chain on with out oil, then reving it would IMO over heat the chain, causing expansion, if you then tension the chain you risk it being over tight once it cools.
  22. Lots of good advice here!!!!!!!! Now you have sorted the slip risk, I think we need to address the REAL risk, that I cannot believe no one has yet mentioned!!! Have you checked for Trolls under this bridge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
