  1. :congrats: A very good point, very well made!! I will try harder to educate my customers!!
  2. :confused1:We were charging 17.5% before and paying 9%, we are now charging 17.5% and paying 9.5%. According to my simple maths thats a TAX increase of 0.5%.
  3. I believe there is a fair bit of snow forecast for Sunday, and no sign of any warmer weather. So we could be in for more problems. I'm thinking I may just go for it next week and just accept that I'll have to go round most of the jobs after the snow has gone for a bit of a tidy up. People always think mogs are great in snow, which they are, but in ice it can be terrifying!! 10.5tonnes sliding out of control ain't good!!! and if we have the trailer on its even worse!!!!!! I think I need some chains!!!!!!
  4. Hows he doing?? I heard he was not well??
  5. I think SWB has jinxed you!!! Only the other day he was asking you how you went on for nasty little critters!! and then this happens. Glad you OK. Your dad is so right about ivy and pegs, over here people often go on about having a rescue climber on site, but in most cases your fate is in your own hands and a few seconds here and there making sure your line is clear and leaving no pegs, can make all the difference if thinks turn bad.
  6. Not sure it is a derail, I genuinely could not see the number (for more than a second). If some one wanted to ring about the chipper they would need the number Not sure whats changed??? I can now see the number no problem:001_smile:
  7. Great stuff!!! As always Ace!!!
  8. You pay 10% of turnover not the VAT you have collected, BIG difference, if you sell lots of firewood at 5%, and you can only claim back VAT on capital purchases over £2K I'm on the flat rate scheme and save around £800 a year and as you say its easer.
  9. Just had another look, NOW the number appears in one of those grey bars with a union jack flag at the one end and a little phone receiver at the other.
  10. No, IE. When I open this thread on the first page, the number is there for a second then goes:confused1:
  11. No, just honest. I don't kid myself that trees NEED me, they don't.
  12. I was saying, you claim back vat after vat registration NOT going LTD.
  13. As others have said, you main savings are TAX and NI (which is TAX by another name) Be a little careful, as you need more detailed accounts once LTD, so your accountant will gain from your going LTD.
  14. :confused1:I really don't any one think its "better for the tree"???????? 99% of what we do is for the benefit of the customer NOT the tree. Thats why I don't say my firm does "tree care" cause I don't, I mostly do "tree harm" and "customer care".
  15. Quite right too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How would you feel if you were sold a fortnights holiday and only got a week???????????
  16. I spaced the numbers and now they show?????????????
  17. If you "quote" the first post, a number appear in the reply box, but disappears once you post your reply :confused1:
  18. :confused1:How come the number only apears when I "quote" the post????????? 0845 6026105 is it a premum payment number, thats blocked by the site???????????
  19. Steve has are already posted them http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/arbtalk-christmas-raffle-2009/12756-official-raffle-results-2009-a.html
  20. Do you have a source for that info?????????????? My understanding was that you have to have "training", which I believe can simply be done by an experienced operator and documented. And unless there has been a change, there was an "forestry" exemption, which used to say "IE trees an branches"
  21. Nice one Steve!! Well worth all you hard work!!!!!
  22. That does ring a bell, was it around Xmas time?????????? The job I was thinking of was for fountains, but it was in Telford, big Beech over an A road. They subbed me in with 2 groundies, I took their truck and chipper and they supplied the 85t crane and TM.
