  1. I've been filmed many times, some gave or sent me a copy, which was nice. Some said they would would, but never did.
  2. I agree!! I really don't know why people hate them so much?? People also moan about Pops:confused1: I love doing Pops!!
  3. The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the second best time to plant a tree is today. You don't stop doing things because you get old, you get old because you stop doing things.
  4. Pointless thread, its obviously got to be a unimog.
  5. There is a Timberwolf forum, if you post this in there you will get info "straight from the horses mouth" so too speak.
  6. Thieving scum!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Don't let the washer go onto the spin cycle!!!! It will kill the washer and could also destroy the utility room, as the washer jumps around VERY violently!! (well mine did!!)
  8. I don't really know you that well mate, but having seen pic's of you working, that is utter and complete cods wallop. In fact its pretty insulting!!! Why oh why do the people from our industry who advice the powers that be advocate this sort of nonsense?? I know many of them are involved in providing training, you don't think they see it as easy money?? NO surely not!!
  9. Come on Dean, don't beat around the bush, tell us what your really think mate!! P.S I totally agree!!!!
  10. Got a call from a customer who thinks his young Beech, around 25' to the tip, is suffering a woolly aphid infestation. I have not seen the tree since it became affected. He says the tip leaf on each twig is curled up like a cigar. Do you think the tree will be badly stunted by the attack?? He wants to try and get the tree spayed, is this practical?? (there is a neighboring garden directly behind the tree) and whats it likely to cost?? I would imagine the dry weather will make their affect greater, is this true?? Many thanks Dave.
  11. :congrats::congrats: Nail on the head!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. My comment was not aimed at you mate I was irritated by the comment that said people should put water marks on their images to stop them being used. Its like when people have kit stolen and some one says "well you should have locked them up better" NO!!!! we should be able to leave out gear out in the street or the keys in our cars, its the thieving scum who are in the wrong not a careless owner. (it hard to think like a criminal when you are honest) And the people who say the victim is partly to blame are making theft less of a crime!! If its not yours leave it alone!! any thing else is stealing, plain and simple!!
  13. Please give me just one example of some one being "cut down in there prime" (what ever that means??) I get tied of the threats of doom and gloom from the paper waving brigade:001_rolleyes: And before you ask, yes I have my NPCT units, but I don't hold thin in much esteem.
  14. "think":confused1: Surely you will know if you have been doing something for a period of time!! If you have been doing tree work for years without incident, I would say that shows competence. If I was engaging the services of a trades man, I would be much more interested in his experience than any bits of paper he may have. Qualifications without experience is of very little use, IMO. Experience without qualifications is often very difficult to spot.
  15. They look way bigger stems than three years growth!! Did you count the rings??
  16. Do people really feel there is benefit to health when just using saws in the open?? not just when hedge cutting?? Sorry I have not been following the other threads on this subject.
  17. You shouldn't have too!!!! People should only use their own images to promote there own work, other wise its tantamount to fraud!!!, IMO!!!!!!
  18. Interesting. Not sure why he thinks moving the log would have been "an insurmountable problem":confused1: Has he never seen a hiab?????????
  19. I know a guy who was climbing on a short rope, taking down a dead Elm. He cut off a large limb, he did not realise there was a bees nest in it. It hit the ground, shattered and all the bees went back up to where the nest had been. He descended to the end of his rope, then had to just drop!!, 20-30ft!!. Luckily he was over soft ground and was wearing gaffs (which helped his ankles). He hit the ground running, fortunately the tree was in the grounds of a hospital, so he just ran straight into A&E. He had over 200 stings and may well have died had he not received such quick treatment. I'm sure with a longer rope he would have been down faster and received far less stings. It annoys me immensely that there is legislation regarding rescue groundies, but none regarding rope length, but maybe its seen as being so obvious that they don't think its needed.
  20. Those with little knowledge of any field are impressed by qualifications, as this is the only means by which they can measure ability. Those who have a good knowledge and experience of the field, can soon spot those that can "walk the walk" not just "talk the talk". I can honestly say that the people who have impressed me the most have been those who have had little or no qualifications, but they had forgotten more about our industry and how to safely get the job done, than many trainers know.
