  1. I am not saying anything, just pointing out what I think are the HSE's reasons for their stance. FTR, I use an 020 on the ground most days, often one handed, but I am self employed and have my own Co, so I'm responsible for my own actions and any repercussions would be on my own head. If I had employees using saws I would not want them using an 020 on the floor.
  2. There are times in the tree when you need to one hand. This is not the case on the ground.
  3. When I did line clearance we spiked everything, you could often see the marks from when they had been spiked before, most had recovered fine.
  4. It was possibly a message for any log thieves "U Cock" ????????? Edit As above.
  5. Indeed!!, in fact in some of her promotional pic's they have been reduced!!
  6. I did build up my business to the point where I was sending out another team as well as leading one myself. It did not work for me, they let me down too often and did not do things to the same high standards that I demand of myself. IMO, the easiest businesses to grow are the ones where your staffs duty's are simple and unskilled, where you can write the instructions for carrying out their tasks on one side of A4. As then your staff are innately replaceable by the next person in the dole que. I intend to carry one leading my own team and doing all my own climbing until I fall off the perch. I'm 41 now and work 4/5 day a week, at 55 I hope to be doing 3/4 days a week at 65 2/3 as I get older I will require less income so this should work out fine (I hope)
  7. Its a 404, so would have had a petrol engine originally. Its a total bodge IMO, I would not want it given.
  8. Well I've been using the chain for a while now and it is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its a Stihl chain, comes in 25 foot reels atm, I think they must be testing the waters. Even through it has those really annoying rakers that poke out the bar nose, it still bores well and cuts fast and aggressively. I have found its much less likely to skid along the branch and really bites in well, which is much safer when cutting and holding (I know,I know) So all in all I'm delighted!!!! I'll be taking my Oregon chains in and exchanging then for these!!! (guess I'll not be testing any pants!!!)
  9. Sounds like they need to man up!!!!!!
  10. If it is the tank thats leaking, you could fix it with araldite (sp). May years ago I spiked the tank on my 020, I emptied the tank, roughed up the area with some sandpaper and glued a patch (a piece of plastic) over the hole, it lasted for years.
  11. I know of a Botex that snapped on the weld on the king-post, it happened a couple of days after it had passed its LOLER inspection:001_rolleyes:
  12. Because I hate ladders, they take up to much room and give the unskilled the idea that they should have a go, imo. I never use ladders for tree work, only step ladders for some hedges.
  13. This is not a stupid thread, you asked a good question and got some good answers. I reduced some Norway Spruce last week, I used my throw line and got my line round the main stem and over some small branches.
  14. My body has this fantastic system, it pushes fluid out onto my skin, the fluid evaporates, which cools the skin!!!! So long as I drink plenty of water it works really, really well!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Thats a big tree mate!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Entec just re branded themselves, same company and machines, just new colour and name.
  17. If its an Entec, it can't be 2004.
  18. Thats enough now bud.
