  1. But if you work in a way that needs pegs, what do you do if there is not one where you need it? Each to their own of course, but personally I prefer and pride myself on never using them. But then I almost never rig and cut and chuck 99% of all my work, so maybe thats the difference.
  2. I think the point is he was setting the bar pretty low. I want my children to excel, not simple achieve normality.
  3. Whats this "too skinny for spikes" thing?? My spikes work perfectly well down too about 4" diameter and I can't think of a tree where my feet needed to be further up the stem than where the timber is 4", that normally means its at the most 3" at your chest and any thing above that can be cut and chucked, IME.
  4. Your spiking skills will only improve with practice, using pegs for the tricky bits stops those skills being developed, IMO.
  5. If you are charging a day rate that require you to work 7 days, something needs to change, IMO. I can survive on 3 days, do OK on 4 and do well on 5. I only work a weekend day to replace a lost day in the week. I do quote on Saturday AM over the winter, evening over the summer, but quoting never feels like work to me.
  6. Pegs are the work of the devil!!! They are even worse than ladders!!
  7. I just move my CS to around the stem and slid it down as I'm blocking down.
  8. Do you use a cambium saver?
  9. Do you not substitute weekend day for week days if the weather is bad?
  10. I think this has been the case for some time, but I believe there was a recent court case regarding some coaches that were held by the police, the police lost. The judge pointed out that we have have policing "by consent" and the police must behave accordingly. There was also the case last week of the protestor who won a case to have his details removed from the register. So I am hopeful that the tide is changing.
  11. It now sounds like they were doing an excellent job, which is great!! The tale you started with was very different.
  12. So you were "asked" to get out, not "dragged" out?
  13. What reasons did they give you for laying hands on you?
  14. Don't get me wrong, we talk and are friendly enough, but not best mates.
  15. Thats cool!! My brother and I don't really see eye to eye
  16. I am inclined to agree, I really enjoy robust debate and find it very sad that some get so upset when others disagree or find fault with their argument.
  17. Do you really think steve has nothing better to do than dig up deleted posts and PM them to you?????? Don't swear and you won't be deleted. (unless you break some other rule, obviously)
  18. Hi, I'm interested is the size of families. I'm one of two, me and my older brother. I have 4 children, 2 boys (15 and 16), 2 girls (8 and 10) Are you an only one, or one of many?? Thanks, Dave
