  1. Sorry i did not find and read your original post Hama and made you writ it again. toataly agree with the above idea and concept.thanks for posting:001_smile:
  2. Got one... Advantage: Comfy fit and breathable. Disadvantage: face visor keeps coming off everytime it catches on a twig!!GGrr
  3. I have never done it , but the main climber at work tends to prune 1 in every 3 branches. be intrested to hear Hama why you dont think much of it? Apart from opening the canopy up to increased wind loading and decay wounds coalecsing and maybe branches supporting each other. intresting.
  4. Hi pyro, Do you mind me asking wether you have had any speech therapy? I am on the McGuire program, the best one for recovering stammers in my opinion.I am a qualified volunteer for the program and coach.
  5. Saw it a few weeks ago.Fantastic film.Colin firths stammer was spot on and he must have done his research.I reconigsed subtle things only a stammer would do. Having a stammer my self , but been in recovery for 6 years and still battling to control it, the film was a good mind opener for the un educated.A good bit of media to make the public realise how hard it is to speak.Never take the wonderfull gift of communication/ speech for granted. When you cant do it well or at all..you realise how wonderfull it is.
  6. count me in for a tenner, sorry to hear this very sad news.It always chokes me to hear we lose one of our own.rest in peace.my thoughts with the family.
  7. am going down to see her this weekend on the train..snow permitting, she is in bits.
  8. been a horrid end to the year.I lost my dear freind and brother in law ,3 weeks ago in a terriable car accident. He was only 41, a year younger than me.He was killed by a car smashing into his side after a second car chased him down the road and made him loose contol of his car and swerve into a on coming car coming around the bend..his neck was broken in an instant. He leaves behind his wife (my sister) and 2 young boys. We had his funeral but still i cant get my head round what has happend...he was a great bloke , would do anything for anyone,i served in the TA with him..he was a more like a brother than a brother in law. Will miss my mate stig. been trying to get back to normal but finding it a little hard.
  9. cheers mate , would like to know what insects cause it and how and why..is that to many questions?
  10. do you know what insects cause this condtion hamadryad?
  11. Fibre buckling dont look to bad to me.Dont like the comppression fork at all,Whats the target area like?looks like from the angle there is a lot of reaction growth around the buckling area too, have you checked for internal decay?
  12. My heartfelt sympathy for you mate.cant imagine what it is like to lose your mum, my thoughts are with you and your Kin, be strong mate the sun will rise for you and in time you and mum will be mother and daughter again, bright blessings little tree.
  13. Did a fully qualified arboriclutrist look at them or was it some highways engineer?
  14. You could also inform the Highways agency too. They have powers to deal with any tree believed to be endangering the highway.
  15. Hi Andy, if you had this up two years ago i would have snapped it up.Must be a few students just out of college to go for it..have you tried Jason at Otley to place an Add in the Arb section. good luck mate.
  16. Further study can only benifit you, depends on where you want to end up in the Arb world. You set the goal then work out what you need to get there.Good luck and welcome to the site.
  17. yes Tim same trees as you did.Well done for doing so well.If i had known what you knew about the trees before hand should have picked your brain LOL....only joking i should have known these if i had more experince.Wil maybe try again in Feb.Just dont want another negative result again or else il get a little deflated.
  18. cheers Sean, sure i will get it one day...hope the boss thinks like that too.....((takes big gulp of theakstons old pecuiler)))
  19. Got the unoffical result today.failed by 5 pionts. The pass mark was 70% and i got 65%...so close again. This is the second time i have done it.Did ok on the written exam and fungi test but not so well on the two inspections.Tree 1 had a stump 7-8 meters away with Ustilina on it and i should have seen it and set up a rigorous monitoring schedule. There was no mention of my recomendations that the canopy needed a 30% reduction and a lot of end weight on a lot of the limbs. Missed a compression fork on tree 2 which was 10 meters up with severe reaction wood around it. lessons to be Learnt from it...look more around at the site where the tree is and get more experince doing tree inspections. Obviously dissapointed but may think about taking it again in Febuary. need beer now to drown sorrows.
  20. He makes a good cuppa too...such talent eh.there was another guy we talked too but i did not get his name.Nice place too.
  21. Just got back today from doing the retake.I know i did well on the fungi test, got one question wrong on the written paper.Put down enough info on the test inspections and i think my recomendations were ok.One tree was a norway maple with 0ne very long upright branch to 9 meters in height.Bit of the buttress had loose bark a quarter of the way round the stem, not enough to worry about butt failure i think. My recomendation was 30% reduction and loose the end weight on the large upright branch. Now that i am home in retrospect i worry and think it over...did i make the right choice was it a fell? Too late now, up to the examiner. Glad its over, will get result in a few weeks i hope.
