  1. You have to do the course because all it teaches you is how to pass the assesment thats it. I can do my job but im sure the assesor will have his own idea of whats right. Like we say people dont want to pay for our services what we should get so why should we get super over charged by a training provider. If you want more qualified climbers in the industry its time to offer affordable qualifications how many new employees on crap wages can afford 750 for the first cs30-31 Employers dont put most workers on the courses round here they are meant to but they refuse and expect you to do it yourself and most cant afford the price.
  2. Hey i will take you up on that offer nearer the time appreiciate the offer and a drink for helping me. See this is more like what us tree guys should be like helping each other out getting together etc. Most the companys round my way all know each other we go down the pub you rib each other but its all good fun.
  3. No matter what you do they will bend you over robb you blind and b****r you up the aris dottle. lol. rebelion
  4. Really annoys me that they just want your money and its better for them to have you fail then they can charge you all over again
  5. Strip from the wood then parks and play areas buy them. You need a yard to store the wood but if work is short its a money earner
  6. Not to far just off the m25 i think its 30mins away
  7. Agree with ya marc. They are to expensive we would not care about so many units if they were priced sensibly. Instead the nptc thought how much can we rip these mugs off for. I was lucky i went straight up a tree no qualifications i did not cut at first just went up with my old man an looked and learned. Then progressed into the cutting and became good because i learnt first hand all the problems that could happen did rope tangles etc. You learn far better by doing why should you have to do a course before you climb what if you spend all that rediculous amount of money and then dont like the actual job. Untill they offer sensible prices they will have problems no matter how much they change the courses.

    any good??

Well noone likes a sweety muff lol. What type of ear muffs do you use are they reusable. do you use ear muffs as well or just plugs
  9. Interesting idea Are they not changing red diesel to white soon any way getting rid of red i know at the marina there doing it.
  10. south east yeah i got it through orange it is a lincmaster. I just got a decent price from them. They are very good wheel clamps alot better than i expected
  11. Yeah do more than just trees rising electric and gas should mean more people are after wood burners cheap fuel. sell logs / wood chips / bark / offer tree planting. Who knows some big storms should be profitable lol
  12. I think mogs should be able to use red diesel we should have one perk if buying them beasts. Chippers should run on red to my ones petrol so i always get mugged at the petrol pump. I think mogs should pass an mot at least more for the benefit of the owner knowing there machiene is safe to use. If i get enough mohoney i will get a mog guy round here has one so cool.

    any good??

Yeah that would be a cost effective way worth a try.
  14. I think the NPTC are just robbing us blind. They dont want apprentiships they cant charge extortionate rates then. Each unit should be £250-300 max i would do every single one at that price but as it stands they only want to change it to squeeze more money from us. What they forget is the ones doing the courses are mostly newbs who earn little in wages. I believe a competant climber has more than enough ability to teach there groundsman since they do it day in day out. Nptc more and more people wont bother using it and its clear thats whats happening there changing it because candidate numbers are at an all time low.

    any good??

Cheers i will be after some better muffs or buy helmet for the chipper use
  16. Well my first chipper have not chipped a pencil yet so my aim this year is to use my chipper haha. First job this year is my christmas tree its getting the chip. I think this year will be a tick over year as money market scares will make people keep the cash more.
  17. True they keep upping the anti and tree fellers pick up the tab all the time. If they cant get you for one thing its another.
  18. I advise getting the clamp very good and extreamly solid unit. I want the entire machine coated i think in the year if profits are good i will have it done i like to make my gear 100% like you. I will do the same renew everything it needs but i only just got my one and every thing is sweet. If your getting the clamp get the hitch lock with chain its expensive all the gear but cheaper than a new machine go to orange plant they are really good.
  19. I think there are alot of smart people on here the problem is the certs are now more about making money than proper training. I want on the job training apprentiships. The main problem with the nptc courses is the price they are just not worth the price considering you have to refresh if the prices were reasonable more people would do them and refresh. The prices are the nptc's main problem until you stop being greedy people wont use them. 650 for arial rescue what a joke they have to many units you cant keep up you do one they add a new one. Experiance always comes first how can you be any good if you only used a saw for three days to pass a test lol. Learn the job on the job then if you wanna stick at it go on a three week course 1 week for chainsaw operations. 1 week for felling and finally 1 week for climbing. You learn by doing You dont need nptc to get insured and rightly so nptc have a monopoly on arb training why cant mr 50 years on the job teach against mr 2 years college. Sorry bit of a rant this is my pet hate in tree work.
  20. your part looks lovly and clean but i only need about 3 sq ft of area painted so maybe powder isnt the answer just some orange paint its only so it dont rust. But if your selling a machine getting it recoated would i think increase selling value of old machines. imo cheers
  21. Next they will only let us use rubber chains. It does get beyond the joke all the red tape crap. You need insurance to blow your nose incase some one else gets ill lol. We dont carry waste we carry recycled wood for re-use in horse mennages composting mulching logs for burning. Untill they get rid of pikey firms etc it will never work
  22. Easier to buy a new one tax loss any ways. They will only be weakened after restraighninG:drunk:

    any good??

Yeah it does haha to be honest the muffs are not great they dont seat against my ear 100% when chipping noise does enter into my ear. Its the straps they allow small gap between me and muff. But for climbing i love it so comfty no noise probs when using a saw.
  24. This is amusing next chainsaws will have to pass emission tests. We will have to train to use trailors. I notcied lots of police checks in my local area far play on tractors they should be maintained. Should the industry not have a body of people to protect us from unfair letigation that in the end will put us out of work.
