  1. Well appreciate your replys. I did state no offence but i guess some cant read to well. I was not slagging nothing off just getting an idea of why it priced so high one decent guy gave that answer.
  2. This will never happen in our working lifes as who would allow every morning lunchtime etc there workers to take time out to be tested who would go round testing how much would it cost. Its down to each employer to evaluate themselfs as its the employer who will get sued in the case of an accident. Each to there own do what you like as long as you harm no one else doing it.
  3. Explain Buzz im interested as i recently brought a timberwolf
  4. No mate its a really good point yes prescription drugs can and do alter your mind set most making you drousy. I would not want a law or drug testing compulsary just ask the masses that when your at work make sure your at your most aware as a silly mistake will kill you do not impare your ability to get your self out of harms way.
  5. I would really like this lowering device grcs i think you call it. But how on earth is it worth nearly £2000 Stihls most expensive saw is by far chepaer. Its the price of a second hand stump grinder. This is the only reason i wont buy it its extortion how is a piece of metal plate with a drum and some ratchet straps worth that much it probly cost £100 to make. I mean no offence by my comment and im sure there more to it than a simple metal plate. But could the maker surely offer a more sensible price and im sure many more would buy it.
  6. I some one came in with me for a day an sparked up a spliff id never use them again it is incompetant. The law is changing now they can test for drugs on the road if your caught driving whilst under the influence of drugs its now the same penalty as drinking there for. Its the same as coming to work pissed your mind is not on the job and i worked with many people in the past who smoke it does affect there work and there attitidue. I think in this game you get no second chance there for my mind is always focused only an opinion.
  7. Why whats wrong with timberwolfs
  8. I would call myself an arboculturalist in the sense that when i reduce a tree i sculp it into a nice symetical shape always taking into account longevity of the tree. Thining out and shaping gives the tree an even ballance and allows light throughout the whole tree thus promoting equal growth. It also help to avoid overloading any one point of the tree as an unequal weight balance can cause severe damage. Oh the tree above did have lightning damage on the main trunk so it had to have weight reduction to. But hey its just one of many methods.
  9. Hey Marc cheers for your input. I do agree with your way of pruning its the way i go about it but in this case i could only use growth shoots where possible. I have to admit i two will give all the trees i prune equal shape its just a way i learned. Came across some odd shapes before. Merry Christmas all
  10. Hey MT appreciate your comment thanks.
  11. Hey just done this one today was 65ft reduced to around 55ft and a little thining out.
  12. Hey What are the most common components to where out on a chipper any ways to prolong the life of one.

    Query

Big A your on the right track but this planet has been burning its woodlands for millions of years natural fires its the planets way of clearing for new i guess. This carbon crap is only about making more money out of a very limited fossil fuel supply. Our industry contributes a minute amount. Ill never agree with carbon crisis rubbish its the natural flow of the globe to heat and cool. How ever i would fully support and help towards planting as many trees as we cut down we need more woodlands.
  14. I like most reduce with growth shoots where possible. I fully agree trees should be cut in a way that least affects its survivability and sustaines a symetrical shape. The problem is its always up to the customer they in most cases own the tree on there land so its their choice. We can only offer advice but even then you need indemity insurance otherwise you can even offer advice. By law a tree should have to be cut using growth points always but it could never be managed who would check every job impossible.

    Query

Hey Marc yeah it worked out that to get it all done in two days you would have to remove 1.6 80-120ft trees an hour for 7 hours a day non stop which im confident to say wont happen like you i always allow more time than i need so not to rush. Just making a point that the guy needs to up the price and extend the days it will take.
  19. When ever i quote a job i always explain what i will do how and why i never get asked to top I tell them what it needs within what they want. I only top furs.

Based on limited light working hours now you would have to do say 7 hour days 1.6 trees an hour then take into account lunch and breaks tipping etc. Me personally would allow a week get in some extra muscle to make it a nice job and put a nice price of around £ 4250 -£4500. i can sit at home an earn sod all. Sounds like a really good job.

    Spikes

So you would rate the carbon gekkos over the titanium buckinghams
  24. Yes you lot are mean poor me huh. totally agree with ya monks you have to start cheap. They only get the hump cos they have to charge more cos it costs them more which is totally fair. Once us newer companies earn more we can invest more and then we will charge more for the same reason. Kiss Kiss every one no meani poo,s ha ha
