  1. I fully understand your concerns KJ and comments on here. If for example they are shooting towards your ground at an angle of 60 degree above horizontal and can see clear sky or they are taking overhead birds heading towards your ground with their backs to you, it may well be deemed as a safe shot.........however that does not detract from the "nuisance" or potential hazard situation. Any shoot has a responsibility for safety but also a responsibility towards the feelings of their neigbours. In brief they should be showing good manners to all...that includes all those involved with the shoot and of course their neigbours. I would suggest that you try and have a meeting with the Shoot Captain over a brew or a small libation at your place and point out to him your concerns but so that he can see the situation from the receiving end so to speak, without recourse to Law/BASC guidelines in the first instance. Any shoot worth their salt will take heed after a friendly chat and re-arrange drives/gun positions so as not to cause a problem to their neigbours..... I'm speaking as an ex-keeper and runner of shoots.....I have had this problem before, more than once over the years....and having been made aware have always settled things amicably.....has caused a few headaches on shoot days at times but heh-ho it has also involved having the crack with the neigbours over sloe gin and frutcake Not everyone that shoots or is involved with shoots is a "gentleman" but they should behave as such.....if not there chosen sort shoul be crochet/needlework/knitting. If they have the true interest of the sport in their hearts then it will work out.....if not

The fisherman's/sailors song............always evokes strong memories for me,I and most of my family were ex-MN,my mum being ex-Wren also. At her funeral, some 3 years ago, this hymn was belted out, especially by the 80-90 year old ex-Wren's. Made me shed tears then and still does today
  3. On the machine side in Arb,so don't, despite my study, on here fully understand all this fellin malarky But....even I can see that's a difficult job well executed Nice to see the results of professional arb work (Got to say tho.....if the "ole blue nose" worked on wood......me and the lad might just give you a run for your money ........If we could weld it back together after a "mishap" )
  4. You don't have a massive budget especially for a tracked machine. I won't go into the TW/Jensen/GM et all debate as it can side line your thoughts. Perhaps you may be better off looking for someone who wants to upgrade their machine and is looking for a cash buyer rather than a trade in. Which ever route you take the service history of the m/c is very important. The main dealers will be able to ship parts within 24 hrs so nothing to choose there. Perhaps if you find a machine you could take it to your local dealer and ask them to give it a once over ?........If its an honest sale then you can get an unbiased opinion of the m/c's condition to the benefit of both parties. Just my thoughts
  5. And what parts were they to come to that amount ??????
  6. Plenty out there Suggest you ring the Carlton dealer and arrange for a demo , where away are you ?
  7. Exactly what he said
  8. Very,very good planning

  13. I've been on here for about 7 years, the time in which I've been involved with forestry equipment of the chipper and grinder variety.I joined to get an insight of the people that use the machines, how they work, what they do....what they need, to give me an understanding of what an arborist is and does.....Its been very eye opening:001_smile: I don't post up much because I'm here to learn about you people, not flog me wares...if you know what I mean Some of you on here know me,me dogs and me truck, a passion for other things in life...... I really enjoy dealing with people in this industry, with an understanding of their needs and their honest opinions and approach...... Thank you ArbTalk BTW...Good thread
  14. Extending tongue A throwback to the days when the grinders were tow behinds on the back of a pickup. Not usually fitted these days.
  15. Very fitting....Just......everybody......take care.....
  16. Sweet You ever come out of "Limbo" and into East Sussex...Pm me ...I'll put a brew on
  17. Breffni.... Really sorry to hear about your loss,I don't post up much and never have done on these sort of threads cos they have me in bits To lose a Springer coming into her prime is awful, sadly I know,I'm on No 7 of my own breeding(Non commercial) since 1989. Dogs who are constant companions invade your soul......and their early loss is literally soul destroying. I was so pleased to see that you have kept one of her pups, Eileen and what a cracking little dog she looks, how old in that pic ? Anyhow I wish you all the luck with the youngster and think of the great times you will have with her......and the great times you've had with mum Holly & Izzie say hello to Eileen and Spike(JRT !) sort of mumbled the same...
  18.
  19. Pot,Kettle ?
  20. If I may chuck me tanners worth into this most worthy, erudite debate. I use the word "tanner"......sixpence,half a shilling,24 to a pound purely to show me age....One who remembers fully what went on...not by hearsay, not by connection. Its not what went on then (79 onwards) but what preceded it. The staple base of the UK was Coal,Steel and heavy industry....the peak of the culmination of these three was a SHIP.....something we were particularly good at,aye and the manning of the same. The demise of the famous three started coming about in the mid sixties........anybody here know what a general cargo ship is ???.....Containerisation was on its way.......Coupled with a blinkered attitude by both management and labour force we dug ourselves such a hole that everything and everybody had to fall into it. Fast forward a decade...the UK had successfully managed to stab itself in both feet, give itself a heart attack and manage a brain haemorrage at the same time......no mean feat really. Inevitably things had to change......Someone had to be at the forefront of that change......Well we all know who that was..... From the mid sixties onwards we as a society started to live in an ever changing world, and that pace of change is even more relevant today. So why the vitriol I ask myself...........She didn't bomb your Granny......"They" did mine...but I don't hold it against "Them" now. Perhaps now as a society, and I refer to the ever changing world we need a focus...... I'll give you "Ying and Yang".....When Princess Di tragically died there was such an outpouring of public grief leading to flower tributes all over the show these days...The death of Mrs Thatcher,I would suggest is the Yang..... Do these sort of events assauge our desire to love and to hate ???? If so......I think we all need to get back into the real world and get away from the soap opera mentality. This is in no way meant to offend any member but purely my take on it,I've sat on me hands for long enough BTW Going back when I'd happily free climb from top plates to inside funnel top......Climb a tree.....no chance...But love to see you people do it. Respect for what you do .
  21. That was the 4JX1 engine fitted to the Trooper with CAT designed HEUI fuel system....Now out of production for over 8 years. The new(er) Isuzu common rail diesel is a good engine(as fitted in latest pick ups.
  22. As you say, there is an optimum range, upper and lower, where the oil viscocosity is low enough not to allow metal/metal in the spool but high enough to not overstress the system as a whole.
