Timberwolf did a demo of their shredder for me at the APF. It wasn't what i wanted/needed in a machine but it was quite impressive. Chips were quite large and it seemed to cope quite well with the stuff they were putting through it. Talking to the lady selling it apparently builders are getting them. One guy use to use 4 or so skips and with shredding a lot of the stuff comming out he was down to one or two skips a job. Could you be cheeky and get TW to give you a demo of the machine to see if it will do what you want it to do?

Look like new say about £400 quid probally more. Isn't the only only difference between the 394 & 395 chain tensioning being front and side mounted?

I'd be worried about using a .325 chain on an 880 lot of power for a little chain. Someone locally must have a mobile band mill with the attachment to do shingles? It's not doing it yourself but its better than a leaky roof. If you were to buy a few tonnes of WRC or Chestnut that must exist locally you'd get a better roof. As i've seen the effects of a leaky roof twice i can tell you, from experence don't do it wrong here as it ruins everything else.

The cage on mine sits just far enough away to open the side widows. As for the back either don't guard it and just use a bit of marguard instead of glass. That will require changing every so often as it does cloud up. Or make the rear window guard removeable just have it held on with linch pins. Wilsons use to do some old guards that allowed the window to open a bit. They came off the top frame at an angle and then went to a big bar then went back into the frame. Sort of triangle shaped but not quite. Oh on another A92 note visability for side arming verges ain't great. Hedges its ok with but the small windows don't show enough verge to cut it easily.

It's the A92 and they're fantastic little tractors. The key word there is little. The cab is very small inside which isn't really an issue unless like me you spend a lot of time in there. Once you have the fire extingusher in there and a small first aid kit and some lunch there is no room. Thats not too much of a problem if your just going forward. If you use it for forwarding then its a night mare. Trying to turn the seat around is an involved procidure that normally results in some gear box grinding as you hit the shuttle (which is on the right rather than the left like the N series) oh and the knocking of the linkage to constant pumping oh and the ocasional knocking of the spool value controler. So yes its a good tractor good 4wd and diff lock. Nice range of gears the crawler box is good. Pulls well will do 40kph but only in 4wd my only quibble with it is that the cab size makes it really uncomfortable to forward with. I'm 5'11 and my legs go to sleep as there is so little space with the seat turned round. Good on fuel. Its not bad the N series is better if you don't have any 1000pto speed machines get it with 540/540e gearbox and it will use even less. Also have the A92 HItech which basically has air con and a button clutch on each gear stick. This one i can't decided wether its heavier on fuel or its just used more for but for little bits thus using more fuel.

Did you consider one of those overly expensive fiberglass backs that totally enclose the bed? Keeps the kit dry and most importatnly safe but does lack the throw and go ability of a pick up bed.

I'd love to have a go. 1 on 1 sound fantastic too. How much would you be looking at a day?

Know anyone with a mill? Get someone to mill some 8x2 in Douglas fir and just bind the tapered end up with some metal. Larch would work too.

Me too but i don't drink. I do however drive many hundreds of miles a week.

Hi How much is a skidding arch for a dobbin? Is there some courses that anybody runs to get into horse logging? Or is it a matter of have some horse skills and some forestry skills and you have dobbin loggin' My girl friends pony is looking like it would love to skid some timber out of some small woods.

The 372 is a great saw. with a 15inch bar it flys through the wood. ITs a little slow with a 24" on but its great to have the option of having it. It's not as manurverable or as user friendly as a 357. I'm yet to try the 576 but that might be worth a look.

Pictures! That be a nice crane on a nice big tractor. 8m reach is a lot of reach bet thats tippy out at full strech. Thought of putting a head on the end of it yet. I've been on the phone to Wilsons every other day since last week trying to fix my trailer after a windblow tree took out the filter. They don't have any 8100-8200 in for what i'm willing to pay at the moment. I'm after the 570TL as you pay a lot extra for the extra meter of reach and add the complexity of a double extending boom.

There's been a few 4wd 80s Case trators on the bay. If you wantto do woodland work or drag a timber trailer then 4wd is a must.

I use to do 2.4 so about 8' but i found that it went walkies at that length. At 3m it tends to stay. I've never seen a mini forwarder in action but the blurb does look good. I've always used Botex cranes & trailers. I'd love a go in a proper forwarder.

What you cutting? I tend to cut 4.1m saw logs although thats just a size for the estates sawmill. Other jobs its been 3.75m for the sawmill down to 8" down to 6" tops of the 2.5m fencing down to 3" tops on the chipwood and again that either 2.5 or 3. Firewood is all 3m

whats the operation for HAVS? I know carpel they cut the nerve. Also what is compartment syndrome and triggering

I too am trying to get into smaller plantations. Done a fair amount of work last winter in farm woodlands. They've gone into HLS and get money to do woodland management. As for hand cut timber maybe i'm being pesmistic but i still can see a price rise. One of the members on here as a Keto harvester head on a 8tonne mini digger which would be the perfect size for getting into for what would normally be hand cut parcels.

I think it will be a while before we se a fall. Infact i think there will be a rise yet. Any hardwood that's processor size will cost a fortune.
