    No slack

If it did break it would be real easy to retrieve the system-no faffing about. You would just push the rope away from you until the hitch climber descends back to you. is that what you meant bro?

Its now been decided that its totally ok to run off just one revolver:001_smile:
  4. get some of the tubing (thats used for the gear storage loops) and put it on the leg/butt elastic and it stops the twang:001_smile:
  5. You could try this, not as free flowing as a rope guide but less friction than a cambium saver.

Scott 1st, Jim Kilpatrick 2nd, Jawand 3rd and Andy Neverman 4th. Nicky 1st and Elena 2nd in the ladies. The masters was a very tricky pin oak witha transfer into field maple to finish-i dont think any of the masters competing fully completed it and got gear out. The aerial rescue was a climber suspended mid air in the middle of an m rig with a locking knot sat under the prussic-not that many completed this one in time! Like Hollands i got my PB in footlock of 16.18secs but then decided to show everyone how not to do a work climb. Was an awesome day set in a beautiful part of the world-im pretty sure there will be heaps of pics and vids at Treetools: essential gear for tree workers over the next few days. Well done to everyone that competed
  7. available in nz soon too if anyones interested

  10. DB Tree Drop Test some more pics of the drop tests
  11. the huskys are too hot also and mine fell apart. try the stretchy cloggers mate, much thinner but still meet Aus/NZ standards
  12. a neat piece of kit. the next version will be better as it will have a roller built into it. Ive got a video of it in use but i cant seem to upload it at the moment. Ive only had limited use on it but in srt mode its pretty awesome-better than traditional ascenders as you can ascend and descend without unclipping anything. i didnt like it in double rope mode. The guy in the photo (johnno) is pretty mean using it now, it requires a whole new style of climbing to get the best out of it.
  13. yes bro. a fig 8 works better in the water though but it needed a clean.
  14. this is a pretty good way to clean gear.....
  15. Tree of Heaven that we cobra'd 2 years ago to prevent it splitting out and smashing cars. All 3 lines had gone very tight as tree had started to split at 3points at the base. weight reduction so that the tree can stay standing for a bit longer. It was one of the original trees planted when NZ tried to make a silk industry, apparently the silk worm eats the leaves.
  16. same as joe-use AP in a vt system and the rope works sweet. Was easy to melt on descents/jumps when new but once it fluffed up a bit it was all good.

  18. 8mm AP
  19. cheers peter
  20. we spent a couple of hours yesterday trying to destroy some rope savers by dropping 100kg weights in a dynamic test from various heights. We used yale blaze rope and AP tied ina vt config. After 2 hrs of dropping from 1m, 2m and 3m we had broken nothing. The last drop was 5m+ and still nothing vbroke, the main damage was the AP had virtually welded itself to the blaze-this stuff is strong!! in fact evrything we use is v strong and our bodies and anchor points will be the weak point that breaks i feel. Videos will uploaded soon to youtube and treetools site. i think if we had of used standard poly hitch cord it would of melted straight through btw
  21. cheers phenom thtas exactly my thinking too. im tryin to get average fl pruss lengths so i can start making some up, can people send me there lengths if poss? cheers
  22. this is quite useful moreslicktricks throwline.pdf
  23. i hear ya rupe but i get frustrated with some of the students that come over from the UK who cant even throw a throwline at all. I think its a basic skill but also advancing once in the tree using your rope is too, but from the ground i really believe its a huge bonus. A lot of the council trees we work on get climbed a lot and the constant rope wear really knackers them and so we now try and install a cambium saver via a throwline on virtually every tree. With removals ill install a line first using athrowline rather than spiking up on the flipline as i think its safer and quicker. Removing hangers with the throwline is also a bonus- i know you know all this, its just i think the throwline is often an underused tool due to the initial hardships of being accurate with the throw.
  24. cordyline with racing wings.....
  25. The council David. Pohuts are known to hold cliffs up for ages by putting huge amounts of support roots into the cliff but everyday i expect to see this one on the road after a storm.looks very dodgy but the council arbs are not at all bothered and just pretend they dont know about it! its funny like that here! its about 8m tall by the way.
