  4. im to the UK in august so if you want a roll just let us know...........
  5. i find the tachyon gets really really hard up near the eye and its a pain to get the needle through, so ive gone down the easy road of putting it lower. on most other splices i put it higher. if it was just whipping then id probably put it closer to the eye.
  6. i know bro!! its a crazy price for sure but tbh im sure il get another when mines wears out
  7. Cool pics mate. we saw a nighttime rainbow a while ago. the rainbow was white in different shades, at midnight after heaps of rain.very cool.
  8. its nuts aye mark! and ross is now splicin...........
  9. Th VT..........
  10. Heres some pice of before and after the tachyon splice test. Only tested against a double fishermans due to the machine being used. The rope snapped at 2.6 tonnes at the fishermans termination. I was surprised it held this much. Also rigged up a spliced Donaghys 12mm Spark rope with an Armor prus VT-this Vt had done about 5months of hard daily use-splced with class II splices. The hitch started to slip at 1.5 tonnes and i think we then called it quits on that test. we then tested the same hitch cord and it snapped on the pin (it was doubled over to kinda simulate real life) at 2.8 tonnes. Thanks to DM Standens (the rope centre) for letting us use the machine and Home Page for supplying the rope.
  11. How is a rope given its strength rating? any termiantion will decrease the strength so how is it measured with no terminations?

    as marc said......
  13. yeah thats what i resortd to doing-never had to do it before with double braid. Is that normal with tachyon? pretty sure they will get easier to do. This one is off to be destroyed to see how it compares with other splices.
  14. cheers tony.
  15. finally i got it done. caused a few blisters this did. i had a few troubles getting the crossover to stay super tight so that the eye didnt become baggy-any tips on how to make this bit easier?
  16. if i leave a throwline anywhere it gets tangled.................using the ropes set in trees works well on shelterbelts though.
  17. install a line in the other tree before you go up and just swing over to it and attach? just a thought.
  18. its in there rob-witha crappy picture explaining it
  19. cheers mate.
  20. it will cost a couple of beers though bro.................sweet as whenever you like.
  21. What happens to the inner inner core when splicing up the tachyon? at what point do you remove it? cheers for any help:001_smile:
  22. evening mate,

  23. works in nz (the link). im in the UK in august so will have to try and make it down.
  24. i cant see any reason to use both ends when your carrying a side strop and not sure if ive ever used 2 ropes either. Surely it must be tiring lugging 2 ropes around?
  25. got any pics of any of the systems used rupe? seems a really good idea for a comp rescue.
