    Old Fungi

Do the rings tell the age?
  5. i think it was kinda talked about but im pretty sure there ok for use in nz. there was an article in Tree Matters mag last month.
  6. i think its a cricket not a weta or a locust?
  7. Has there ever been (m)any accidents from the use of snaphooks in tree work as a lanyard? I personally dont like them but dont see them as being any less safe than a standard crab.
  8. thats what you should set up in hagley park bro
  9. yeah ill be down for a few beers with you and mr hollands bro
  10. a very cool tree down at lake waikerimoana-amazing place in NZ
  11. i think the camelbak cleaning stuff is just packaged bicarbonate anyway-thats what a helpful camelbak guy told me when i went to buy some, he kindly told me to save my pennies and just use the stuff i had at home.
  12. i reckon to stick with cord for footlocking and ascenders for SRT. theres something about the tradition of basic footlocking that i like compared to the complexities of SRT equipment. up to 15m i can footlock quicker than SRT but i would be more tired once i got to the top and anything over 15m is SRT all the way for me.
  13. ive got those bro and have buggered the eyelets by footlocking in them but apart from that they are real good.
  14. totally agree mate. summer here is a killer so we just stock up on room temp water, climb with camelbak and make sure we dont work in the open during the hottest part of the day. Its not just the heat here though, its the sunburn-burn time gets down to about 5 mins at its peak. I done know how anyone climbs in full protection pants in summer
  15. very cool david. nice pics. Do you wish youd got a 'motion ages ago now?

    Boots

hey bro try Haix Boots - from EZDirect.co.nz for Hiax. i think the protectors are $500. Spoke to rich at treetools and anything you want he should be able to get for ya....
  17. or clip your big saw onto the spare hole of the hitchclimber if not using it for a while though prob not the best if swinging about!
  18. hey bro we just set one up in town. tied to a plane tree on top of the hill and attached the bottom to another tree through a fiddle block at the bottom. as a brake we attached some slings with fall arrest bungys at the last ten and 5 metres. the fox was about 85m long, it worked sweet.went down ona petzl tandem pulley though i reckon any pulley would do really. think theres some pics on facebook

    Boots

Hey bro- the hAix range is available as well in NZ. Boots get super expensive if sent from UK and if you get the wrong size its a major pain. If you can wait til the ch church comp i can bring some of the aqua fells, Meindl Air Streams and an old pair of Klima air (to try the size) for you to try.
  21. hey Rob weve just starting using the free Petzl download on PPE checks. not sure if its up to LOLer but its better than the old system of nothing out here.
  22. hey bro i dont really know how to type instructions on how to install the retrieval bit-if i get the chance ill take some photos but tbh its a real kafuffle that isnt worth the effort. like marc said-SRT up and then do the installation, much easier.
  23. Ive put some pics up in another thread on how to install the old type but apparently this works for all of them........it doesnt go through the retrieval clip though installingthepulleyfrictionsaver[1].pdf
  24. waiting for the little cap from germany to arrive-levin wouldnt get one for me. botched my own version together. O rig is a way of sliding your hitch away from you to enable slackless climbing (but ya hitch has gotta work well). Will you be climbin in time for the ch'church comp? im thinkin of flyin down
  25. have you tried the ART double snapper? awesome for retrieving the rope guide. Back to the AP though-ive got mine setup now (with tachyon) so that it will always bite even if its been unloaded for ages and advanced(using the o rig). it just takes abit of time setting up so thats it works perfect for your weight, rope guide etc... persevere bro:001_cool:
