  5. There is no one cut for any job, it depends on the situation, the timber and tree species the location and targets wheart there is a rope as pull or a rig... to that end I have never stoped learning trying and expermenting with cuts to make the bits of tree do what I want them too. This cut is really for branch removal with wait in the equation, to avoid the snatched saw we have all had at some point. Horse for courses Boys and Girls, expirance is a big tool box, so have a pock about in other peoples, thats where I have found out all sorts of little gems tricks and tips. Any way I was searching for some thing else these here forums and yet again been drawn in by all this wittering.... Later

  7. The Makita is a very good saw, Huqsvarna 390xp is all so worth looking at. These smaller saw thou will take longer you will find much more useful and handy than some of the big boys in your day to day work. If find the bigger modern Stihl 660 and 880 tend to get stiff chain breack when used in situations where the exhaused heat is refelected back, eg when ring up big stems or in your case milling. The main key I have found to my own milling is the use of correct chipper chain/ripping chain will make all the diferance, just let the saw do the work and do not rush it.
  8. Dose any one round East Anglia way know any one with a working fully function sky Line set up to hire or contract? drop me an email please. cheers
  9. I'm after a Husqvarna fit bar Solid nose Laser Tip Pro 3/8" either .050 or .058 to run on 371 385 395xp's looking for bars between 15" -18" Need to be in a run able condition straight and true with even rail wear. Cheers
  10. you will have to elaborate a little on that,
  11. see attached details for work shop on 9th march 09 in Bucks area,
  12. had one for years on my second one now wore the old one out. Very good for keeping your system in line with your anncor keeping friction more constant reducing rope rub. also make your system sit in the same place and orination whenyou reach for it blind. also increase your movement more than people think, so yes it dose reduce twisting in your harness.
  13. We are this year planning 4 comps, the welsh, we hope is, all being well will run in August. Regarding all other comps I am struggling with the tcc committee to get comitment from venue host. So I am sorry I can not give you all dates and locations but if I had them you would. Please bear with me any rumors or gossip flying around are not helping my work (my volentery work) at all. I do not have time with my current work load and personal situation to trall the halls of arb talk to answer or in this case not answer your questions. It is also not helping with the credit crunch so as far getting sponsors. So please help me out guys and girls, give me time to get the job done. Cheers Alex Ps if any one has A good venue for a comp please let me know I need to set out the 2010 and 2011 events NOW! As regarding all other comps I am with the tcc committee strugaling to get comitment from venue host. So I am sorry I can not give you all dates and locations but if I had them you would. Please bear with me any rumors or gossip flying around are not helping my work (volenterr work) at all. I do not have time to tall the halls of arb talk to answer or in this case not answer your questions. It is also not helping with the credit crunch so far as sponsors either. so please help me out guys. Cheers Alex

Cheers Alex PS half truths and muddled rumours are not very usful, any question email the chapter and ask. In the current climate we are having a hard job getting any commitments from sponsors. These rumours do not and are not helping. Please please help me out here guys. cheers Alex

  17. Saw a good t shirt at the apf, that said Yes I am a lumber jack and yes I am OK! These Coulers are Tree Worker Only Coulrs special run done for Nod by DMM, like the tree worker Hitch climber and all the other Green and Black stuff.
  18. Arbomaster Is A very good 1/2" rope but never been pushed in the UK Market, lighter than XTC but not by much, A solid core consuction giv]ing good long term shape, soft in the hand but stands up to the abrasion well, and stable. if its this kind of rope type you like, look also at Eldrid Xperance, more monye but a little thiner but much lighter,
  19. I would say I disagree, Its a clutch and like A car you can creep on a clutch so when you get used to the presaures you need and where You are comtable holding the thing it's fine. I love mine been climbing on one for six years and would not go back, if my kit got nicked tommorow I be on the phone to get another. Go for the sport over the twine, you can alaway add a tape sling to get the same effect on long halls, and used with an assender and footlocking or a panten realy easy energry efficant way to get in a tree. Wash your rope and it will keep it in better order and make it last longer than any hitch due to the reduced friction, use friction saver as much as posible and it more fluid but thats the same with a hitch I gesess, you can pull down on the rope to feed it in to the top of the lock jack and with only a little bit of rope wait it will eat slack, as soon as your wait is in it,it stops no creap not untill the cam is warn even then it minute and will take you a while to pick up on it. Grab to rope above and pull towards you when branch walking give you the textile feel of a hitch, when climbing up a laddery tree one had from your groundy and you can scamble away with out a worrie. NO NO's Alway use a kab small than the wooden toggle. Don't think the wooden toggle is the main down control.. thats where the on off comes from... If you are any where near Norfolk give me shout and you can come try one out.
  20. like the big kit to play with one.. and the zip line, dose any one fancy a canopoy treak, sponsored team for carrity?
  21. Lighten up, sorry just taking an issue seriously, sorry is a chain saw cut into a main arttary and fun chatty issue. I've been climbing long enough but I know guys out there who have in the trade for 2 year that are operating far safer than your good self from what you are saying. Yes time adds to experance but it can also bread contempt. You are just shorteing the odds. Please don't take this a personal attack but a request to think and try other methords.
  22. That what I'm talking about. Never have I said here you must just rig... Rupe said he will useing rigging straight of witch his main control measure for a safe take down. I like rigging but I also employ loads of other methords, like the above, good old chrash matt if space is there. Cut and chuck all the time, but it will be cut cut break chuck or cut finsh with silky chuck. or just god cuts to put the stuff where you want it.
  23. Not say run the compertion down here. Just tell the cusmore the difference from a profical and a none proficale.... it all why hire an arborist stuff steve. that unprofessional is it? No that educating the public, atchaly doing your direct compition (other pros) a favore as they are morelightly going to shop around.
  24. cheers deer man got a thoery that people coming from micro hitchs take to the spider jack better than hose from a blakes or prussic. cheers
  25. Dean I have to ask, the mewp in the photo was the a cut corner, or just bad luck?
