  1. cheers dom
  2. This is one of the gery areas, by one reading it would be use a chain saw from rope and harness, by deeper reading climb and use a saw to remove some branches in a tree canopy. Really in the real world, it will prove you can use your saw safly in a tree, with out doing harm to you or the tree. If you are going to do alot of rigging work think about CS41 in a years time once you have worked for a bit and can climb with spare space in your head for other things....
  3. Mr High so not knoberly knees, you were robbed sir... tree diver, dive one way or the other how offten are you in the situation where you can't be asred with two hands..
  4. Sure by it true limitaions it is the minnum climbing cert for a grounds man working with a climber to enablie an arile rescue of said climber or for some one climbing to under take inspections.
  5. Treesurfer nice work... Try moving the tree on the end bake to the t of talk again but have the root system under the whole line of arb talk, this would help with the old tree root myth as well... could try rapping the roots around the web address, if you can do it with out getting lost.
  6. I hope you didn't put the groundy off with those legs... If you all used them right may be we can move to shorts... another topic there for another day..
  7. Dom when you say cut and chuck, do you mean hold cut and chuck, or cut, cut, break and chuck?
  8. Cool mr high glad your mind is full and happy...

  12. cheers for the link. Most of the time on email I will but forum I take it as it comes. As for stuff that gose to print, I get thous far better equiped to check it for me. life long memeber of DNA. Mr ed seem you are not so christain after all? Jugde and be Jugdeed was it... you see every one you pop your head up and one from an anoimus man who quotes the bible..
  13. Matty Go to back handels, no way that's the kind of knee jurk reaction we need to avoid, but if we leve the HSE no choice we will end up going the same way as Germany. The top handle has two handles!
  14. Drrfs By rights and best practice, you should be employing a tool higharaky (ahh spelling sorry) there for using a pruning saw on the light stuff, plus better for you for the tree, no noise no chainsaw ppe need so you can lighten up and get out there. so if you need to use your saw at the extrem to be comftable in your work position and balace, that should only happen once a week. Ps its vage to get you all talking ;-)
  15. cheers bob....
  16. Pole Do you use your tophadles one handed every day, every week, hardly ever Ok every one, I opened the can, so here we go. Be truthfull, I want to find out what you all think, either way. I hope with the info gained from this pole and thread I can put together a copule of info mag ariticals, to try and help. Thats my aim, not to hurage but help.. I have learnt that life is to short, I'm sure I'm in for some hits as every one in the indusrty that ever speack up or voice an opion gets shot at by every one from left feild, geuse it an eego filled world we are in. So please help me here. Cheers Alex
  17. Mr Ed I am quite happy to be judged and that why I walk what I talk.... If the pull line sliped off, if the saw hit a dk pocket bit of steal pinched, thined the hing, milk creat gave way... Come on there are photos and photos... Heard the phrace not big not cleaver. Or the Old blood. There are alot of people who look on here but don't post, If we are going to speack out we need to be sure of what we are shouting. The HSE will probly never see the photos but young guys and girles will... Keep them to your slef is all I'm saying oh and remove all the mirrors from the house to save having to look at your self.... Good samariton sir, or shall I just keep my knowlge to my self and not help others?
  18. Steve It appears from some off your photo you don't know how to use the corect cuts for tack downs. I spaose if you only need one hand the saw the other one would not be missed... Not good sir. The 200T is a two handed saw just like all the others, and for all those who say have to use it one handed to get on... B*****s You need to use cuts rigging and prunning saw more. Last year I needed to use my saw one handed twice, even the one time I could have probably work positioned round with hein sight. This year not needed to once.
  19. Got to ask big A, why did you bother to prune, pick is not that clear... but tree look fairly compact and thin? Look like you took out 40% + of the leaf area. Please don't tack a wall sorry fence, just intrested. High Scale... you wounder why HSE worry... If you are going to do stupid things like felling with a saw above your head... don't post it on a public forum... That kind of gose for all of you, if you want our industry to be taken seirously.. In High Scales case if it had to be felled there why not do it on spicks, Good cuts mind. Ps when you leave stub Croctch for your rope or cambium saver leave them at least 2 foot long... Climbers when moveing out have had them pop off... don't be a fool and fall... the landing is never prity...
  20. What.... well you get what you pay for... but give them time, in 10 years, look at all there tractors now...
  21. Have you been to Kelling? I saw some to day, it's somthing horn. Again only seen it on dead wood on the deck, mainly beech chestnut and oak. There for there must be some dead wood in there.
  22. The pepole to speack to are Barshums or Hilliarys for info on container grown trees and street tree planting and estabilsment. Both have very good cataloges with a lot of info. As for the services I with Tony, avoid the conflict.
