  4. First two - Taxodium distichum? Second two - Tsuga heterophylla?
  5. Ha ha. Why do people take such pleasure in saying that to me? Koelreuteria paniculata?
  6. Andy I was thinking Corylus colurna until you said about the flowers...Cercidiphyllum japonicum? Tim is the last tree Tilia americana?
  7. You'll be fine. There are a few of us on here who've completed / started that course - we're here to help!
  8. Ah and you stole the puchline for yourself damn! I was scrolling down looking forward to a smug bit of schadenfruede!!!
  9. Click on the big green banner at the top of the page, download an entry form, fill it in and post it to us. We'll send you some tickets, you find your way to Norwich (don't forget your passport ) come and see me, climb a tree fell a pole and have a beer. Easy. Little bit of paperwork involved but no worse than scribbling your name on a risk assessment.
  10. The eloquent Mr. Hastie demolishes the arguement for planting trees for carbon offset... http://www.tree-care.info/soapbox
  11. Great if it works? If you're the snake-oil salesman flogging it to all and sundry it's great regardless of whether it works or not. Note the distinct lack of peer reviewed research - a hallmark of the charlatan. File this with healing crystals and cosmic ordering...
  12. On the contrary Rupe, it does allow you to excuse lameness... A technique which has been working well for me since 2005! Frank, for most of us middle of the range (slipping downhill) kind of chaps, its only a chance to beat last years scores. Give it a shot!
  13. Bump! Still time to get your forms in for the worlds greatest competition! There are some conspicuous absentees from my list. Get involved!
  14. 'Twas 11mm Velocity (applied with violence, frustration and anger) and the ends are secured with a rather ad hoc mix of insulation tape, shrink wrap and whipping. The whipping is the key, stitched parallel with the bridge, which allows the paw to slide over it without catching. A product of trial and frequent errors...
  15. Might help to ask some more specific questions as that's quite a broad area. You'll easily be able to google root and shoot anatomy, that's a good starting point.
  16. Language so often belies true opinion I've often wondered about the use of the verb 'slapped' and its place in common parlance when referring to the serving of Orders. It implies an aggressive disproportionate response.
  17. Woodfuel East have a grant for up to £5000 or 40% for eligible costs for the installation of domestic systems in Norfolk postcodes. http://www.woodfueleast.org.uk/ Bit late for me always the way!
  18. Just to help avoid confusion - this is a blanket. As you can see, it's fairly rubbish at protecting trees and doesn't even contain the relevant legislation...
  19. Thats probably the dawning realisation that it's here to stay and very little can be done about it. I hardly bother writing it down on surveys anymore...
