  1. The lettering is great, have you looked at it on a lighter background to improve the contrast? How about a centre perspective with a lower point of view? The move across to the left and more in the top right corner might make it look too busy, hey suck it and see ( or is it apita to trial these things?)
  2. - Only downside I've found is that if they are pulling as you sit back the vt can run before biting (groundie is stopping the rope bending)
  3. I'd be interested in some of the less "mainstream" woods / uses ie spruce knots are great on after the kindling as they burn hot and long (a crumb from the Ray Mears table). I've already learnt of the quality firewood that is Alder, I've given it away in the past:banghead: More gems please!
  4. Try this, http://www.balkaninsight.com/en/main/news/11772/
  5. Finally, another believer in the mythical chainsaw shorts, complimented by the natty Mr Magoo goggles. Well, at least he make me believe in evolution!
  6. If you get away from the brand, they can be cheap as chips - but you do get what you pay for! http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/rockrider-colour-1-34961951/
  7. For what it's worth I work with quite a few gardeners (self and salaried) and not one of them has fun, or laughs at their mates misfortune. The most they do is to stop grumbling about someone standing on THEIR grass!
  8. It looked like squiggle to me as well, but that's cheeky being that low and close to a path! I wish they were that easy round here, save my neck and a load of tripping over!
  9. What was the cause of the hole below the old fracture? (Pic 3)
  10. You might be right there, but the gardeners round here are charging £15 per hr = £120 per 8 hr day per person. Whilst local climbers are getting £85 per day. Not bad when you take out the "massive" running costs of a mower/strimmer/fork & rake!
  11. Post it up mate, I'll have a go.
  12. But you forgot mutilate, managed, meripilus, manageable pieces and oh no!......money:scared1:

If you fancy a trundle on the rock, Commando ridge or other "easy" classics at Bosigran are worth it on a dry day.
  14. Sounds like a good dog, as for Alpha desires, that's the way they are from what I've heard. Should be a gem when you've spent some time on her.
  15. Do you know her history / reason for being in rescue? Good looking dog.
  16. I sometimes get asked to leave the logs, but lets face it the standard of work is on a par with the "professional" tidy up!
  17. Drink what you like - that's the point isn't it? On big nights I've taken to a rehydrate sachet before and one at the end of a night (if capable). Still feel wrung out but a feed and a kip sorts that. The comments about "real beer" are about right, less chemical trash in them = less in you, so easier to get back to square 1. Dean - If you end up going to Millom for your Landy axle stop at the Prince of Wales @ Foxfield, good beer, nice people, food and if it's all too much they do rooms as well!
  18. Uh Oh, someone needs taking out and not bringing back! Is that a planning app notification on the lamp post? Tree O may have something diplomatic to say but probably can do nowt (absence of tpo I presume!) Can't wait for the tree to start moving, cracks or moved fence?
  19. Tuppy, This is what I'm after in a good groundy: Good with the public - especially the winger / busy body. Right kit, right place, right time. Strong back and willing to use it. An understanding or what a good reduction looks like (as opposed to a fast reduction!) Tickets to help him do his job by the law Knowledge / experience to do a good job Happy to work late when needed, and bunk off early on others (it's a two way street in my book!) I'm fortunate enough to have a guy work WITH me that has most of these and is working on the missing ones. When he gets them I'll pay him all I can afford as he'll be a key member of the business/future, and should be retained if possible. I don't want to go back to the days of watching every move of the guy on the ground and having to direct there movements:thumbdown:
  20. True, but not uncommon in other trades. I've a mate teaching / flying helicopters and he has to pay for any training that he's had in the last 24 months!
  21. Mitchell has one at Kew dated to about 270 years old, if it's still going!.
  22. Try these guys, http://www.corwenforestry.co.uk
  23. The last haulage price I heard was £13 a ton for an arctic load (20 ton roughly) from Windermere to Lockerbie power station. Hope it helps.
  24. There is a similar one on a cherry on the road between W'mere and Newby bridge, got three clumps on it in a branch loss scar. Haven't been able find out the owners, but every treeman that goes past must suck his teeth and keep going!.
  25. Clip top blue barrel - doubles up as a rope bag, seat, doesn't mind travelling with the chip and will out last your kids kids. http://www.smithsofthedean.co.uk/miscellaneous.htm About 1/2 way down the page Just don't leave your wet kit in it with the lid on!
