  1. I've got a landscape feature with big gaps in, mature elms would fit nicely - might be able to thin out the beech and turkey whilst I'm on!
  2. I just need to put "Dear Santa" on the top and send it off ready for next Christmas! What diameter of Larch are you buying in?, I've only had some smaller stuff that turns into more knot than wood.

    Tipi's

Have some mates with Yurts and know people that make them, but not quite the same. Why a teepee?
  4. Congratulations mate, and a big well done to Mrs Shrek Jnr. Hope they both come home happy and well.
  5. Try this, you do have to register (not sure what it involves) http://demand.five.tv/Episode.aspx?episodeBaseName=C5143440001 Bum - can't watch on a Mac cos their security is not Mac friendly!
  6. Fed the dog, just got walk it and see if it comes when I whistle:closedeyes:
  7. I've got as much of either that you can have for free:sneaky2:
  8. Sensible head on now - air compressor with a fine nozzle and jet them off - sandblasting / air pick style. Anyway you slice it, it sounds like a PITA way of getting firewood without a machine.
  9. If we're going down that road surely a 12 gauge with a solid slug should do it:001_tongue:
  10. For what it's worth -Coppice in small areas, and cut back from the waters edge, stay away from cutting straight lines and where possible keep standing / fallen deadwood. How's the wood for variety of trees etc? If your near me I could do with some cutting for firewood material to feed the processor.
  11. Looks like that I'm going to have miss out:thumbdown:, chicken pox has hit the kids and the wife is thinking about having the winter puking virus. Have beer for me.
  12. optimum working temperature has been attained - it's about the time when the sweat is running into your eyes and there's still a pile of brash you can't see over.
  13. try these guys, http://www.treesource.co.uk/acatalog/Shop.html
  14. I'm in, the work I had just got pushed into next year, credit crunch blah blah, christmas, blah blah probably wont fall down till next year etc etc. I'm ready for beer!
  15. Try - http://www.aie.org.uk/ Good for recent(ish) case law about levels of quals for inspectors and associated info.
  16. £28 for a 8' special from B&Q. Tried the local FC but shut due to snow.
  17. Tom, Have had people tell me it's good for kindling, not tried it myself yet, no light to shed on logs, but best guess is good kindling = hot fast burning logs.
  18. Never been asked for details of NPTC, loler etc by insurers, and fairly rarely by customers. They are all interested in money / turnover / price, call it what you want, some times to the exclusion of all else:confused1:
  19. Bad news indeed mate, I nearly kicked the dog round the house when I thought that I'd seized my 066 last week, so you must've been mighty pissed!. Trying to think of a silver lining, and the nearest I can get is having a newly uprated supersized man toy to play with when it comes back, that and it'll give you a good bit of service when your back at it. Hope it doesn't hurt too much when Alex is finished polishing it.
  20. Plastic shaft for everyday use in my book, if you want a new shaft fitting get in touch with the guys on the link below. They also sell various weights and styles (got the black forest one for easy splitting wood myself). Got a collection to be honest - 3 mauls (inc Gransfors), 1 small splitting axe - great for one handed small logs and a couple of hatchets for kindling. http://shop.visatools.co.uk/log-splitters-24-c.asp
  21. Looked at putting one in and thought I'd spend the time earning the money to get someone to put it in professionally instead - I aint no builder. I did find this website that has some useful info on various pages, http://www.stovesonline.co.uk/stove-hearth-size.html
  22. Link works here (Mac and Firefox if that makes a difference) Well worth a look, especially for the guys that work for LA's - just another day at work - LOL.
  23. The wife went to Grizedale to get our tree today. The FC usually have a good range of sizes and types, but shut this weekend. All FC staff have been given the next 2 days off due to the frost / ice patches on the roads. Does not quite tally with the number of 4x4's that they are issued with and that the private cafe staff all managed to get in their ford fiestas. Will have to go back mid week, once it's raining again.
  24. It's a good job you're awake, 'cos I aint. Still cutting, still coming, still playing catch up - but all happening on 20th!
