    4X4 Advice??

Hi guys, Ive had the use of a Ford ranger, I think it was 52 plate. It was lethal on roundabouts unladen. many a time it kicked out the tail. Ive also had one of the new isuzu double cabs and goy 27 to the gallon. nissan navara 04 reg does 25 to gallon. Nissan sounds rough and isuzu is more of a car than a work horse. I always though the mitsubishis were slow and heavy.dont know mpg. I think the isuzy tows 3ton while the nissan only does 2.7 ton. hope this helps. Baz
  8. hi, weve got a few rayco and carlton models, new and secondhand in if you`d like to try before buying. give me a shout and ill try to help you out. Do you have or need a trailer too? Can provide Brian james STB trailers if required, again new or secondhand.
  9. Hi guys, Ive just been made aware of another machine being stolen. This time with a Brian James trailer. latest reports we have are that it went walkabout monday 29th december around 2pm. As soon as I have the serial number of both machine and trailer, ill post these too. if you are offered anything "cheap" let me know on 01423 359777 and ill check out the serial numbers against our system.
  10. Hi guys, after the recent theft culture that has been happening lately, Ive been doing some research into insurance, chipper security products etc. Ive got a meeting arranged with Satrak satellite tracking systems in early january 2009 and am also talking to Lincmaster, thiefbeaters etc on products that they offer to see if technology has been advanced any. One of the recurring things that I hear about insurance on chippers is one that is happening to lots of guys that I speak to . Its that if/when the chipper gets nicked, and you have insurance from companies that do not know the difference between a "trailer" and a "chipper". The insurance company look deeper into what a chipper is and realise that a trailer usually costs a lot less that a chipper to replace and they try to back out of it and tell you that its not "as you described it". My advice would be to contact a bespoke arboricultural insurer who knows exactly what a chipper is and the values involved. You cannot afford to pay "£88 a year" to insure your chipper as a trailer and then when it goes walkabout, to be told " Im sorry but......" This is your livlihood thats at stake guys. I personally have no financial interest in who you insure with but please make sure you are covered as I have suffered myself when in my own business and its not easy to pull yourself back up and start again.
  11. Hi Guys, Following on from Christreeroots post "IMO you need to have trackers on any makor kit and all work vehicles.... Before somebody says you cant put a tracker on a chippers thats rubbish as it will be found way before they go to strip it etc and find it as most kit is left in a place for 24+ hours to cool down.. " We fit trackers to chippers alll the time which advise of all movments of the chipper, direction, speed, battery power,etc... you can even phone the thing up and switch the power off if someone nicked it and tries to use it! Cost £850 + vat for peace of mind.
  12. Thanks Penfold, I presume so, I just called john and was difficult to decipher. It was LS16 though.
  13. Hi Guys , White Colour Transit double cab tipper Registration number Y236 KTW with Timberwolf TW150DHB with serial number 206143024 A1 has been stolen this morning from Old woodley in Leeds LS16. If anyone sees anything or has any information either ring me on 0797 333 0505 or John/Margaret on 01132 817 734. These guys havent just taken John and Margarets livelihood but also a lot of gear belonging to them and the guys on the crew too. including saw, climbing gear etc. please keep your eyes and ears open and lets stop this happening. If you are reading this and think this will never happen to me....Just take a moment to look over your insurance policy and make sure that you are covered for not just the van but also for the chipper too when working on site, etc. With the present day financial crisis I have an awful feeling this wont be the last report. Baz

  20. Hi guys, Many thanks to steve bullman for sending me the link to join in what should be an excellent forum. Lets keep it clean and get ourselves organised within this highly dangerous industry. (aka Gloucestershire accident) In the last year I have been instrumental in setting up an Arb supply shop within another company in Central Scotland. I have recently resigned from the company and am looking to set up a supply company of my own covering Scotland. I would be grateful for feedback of any ideas, new products ,demonstrations etc that could be worked into the business portfolio. I am very much into getting arb contractors together to see how new techniques and equipment can benefit the industry by making it safer and user friendly.I would also like to create a place where you can buy and sell equipment, machinery ,etc easily and with minimum fuss. Any advice and guidance would be very appreciated. yours, Baz
