  1. Did you read the article ? It said reducing a tree is easier than felling one.
  2. Felling a tree is an absolute piece of piss as opposed to reducing a tree properly especially if there are targets ...and I don’t mean a round over hat rack prune that doesn’t conform to any BS standards in tree pruning so I would re write that.
  3. Couldn’t resist...

    Instagram?

The other thing is you can use hashtags so say some one puts in #woodchipper or #greenmech pages of photos of them will come up and you can flick through ... if your just on it to get as many likes and follows as possible I would recommend using hash tags , it’s a good way of networking as well , I’ve had chats in private messages with Arb’s and fishermen from around the world.

It’s alright pete if you like pictures .. lots of pictures of things you like ! , I follow Arb and forestry ,wood work and fishing stuff , worth a flick through when your board, probably spend a lot more time than I should on it! You can copy links as well for web sites. I see lots of your competitors use it.
  6. I can start a chainsaw and have a special skill of finding and hitting nails with it... usually with a brand new chain.
  7. Have always ran 560’s on 3/8 always been happy with that set up.
  8. [emoji38]No... no way ! I’ve had 272’s 372’s 044’s 460’s and a 576 and have spent a lot of time on all of them and love this saw.. I would rather of used a 560 instead of a 70cc saw in the woods but this has changed my mind.. in my mind there are two different types of 70cc saws though.. the 440 441 and 462 372. Then there is the 460 461 576 dolmar/Makita 7900 the later will pull a big bar better every time but then they are nearly 80cc saws and who wants a big bar in the woods? Fair enough if your on spikes on a big spar.
  9. 462 ... not used the 572 but picked one up.. 462 is a pretty amazing saw , I run it on an 18” I would of gone for the 572 if there was any on the shelves but was really surprised that the 462 is that good ,light and well balanced with great power.
  10. Kin ell vesp that’s a long time ... I think of my 22 years climbing as a long time:
  11. Would you go back to being a ghillie ??
  12. Is the north tyne to far ? I may have some large sequoia in the new year available if that’s the sort of thing your after and your interested.
  13. Pretty impressed with the teufel XStatic ... best SRT line I’ve used.
  14. I had to sell me moto x bike to pay for employer and public liability when I first set up. No one will touch you for public work or home owners with bigger trees who are savvy with out it,could of brought it back 6 months later but there is an endless list of kit you could buy for this job and first few years are hard.
  15. What is the finish like on the low pro?
  16. I’ll have to check ! I have had both an Oregon or Carlton on before not sure which one was on last... it was not the hyper though for sure. Pretty sure there is an other Oregon in the box to try but it won’t be a new one as they came with a GB bar with the mill brought years ago.. Was just wondering if any new chains had been developed. The hyper looks good.
  17. It was either a Carlton or Oregon ... pretty sure it was a Carlton.
  18. I have been using an Oregon skip chain on the mill and today swapped it out for a stihl ripping chain, what a difference!! What chains have what characteristics in the world of chainsaw milling...my only doubt with the stihl was maybe it was a little rougher on finish but was nearly twice the speed! Are there any faster chains out there?
  19. Lifting those slabs without a jcb would of been fun!
  20. 36” bar on the 395 one sprocket in 11 months , I ran that on a 36”Oregon for 8 years on the original sprocket. 15” on a 560 on its third sprocket .. actually it’s in the bin now. 12” on a 540 ... this shattered the sprocket the quickest ... in three weeks.
  21. Surely the same goes for drt ? Apart from that i would be really pissed off if I had to do a unit to climb SRT ... I did my last Ariel saw refreshers SRT and I doubt the assessor knew a clue about the system I was using...
  22. True that Mick , I do try and ask spud not to completely gut the mufflers on saws ...
  23. Had a 560 with pop up piston ,port and other mods , saw was pretty mad ... never ran bigger than a 15” bar on it but it would drop through wood. Got a 395 with Port and timing mods spud did years back and it’s still going and will out cut a 880 with 36” bar.. Last saw he had was a 576 which he took the auto tune off and woods ported, it isn’t stupidly loud but works well and the saw is definitely one I would miss and I hated the thing before ! The echo 2511 is about on par with an exhaust modded 150 anyway, you need a basic exhaust mod on a 150 to make it a usable saw imo but either fully modded would be a good choice , I’m thinking of sending a 2511 off as it’s a cracking saw ,especially with the stihl bar and chain.
  24. I’ve been back on Oregon bars for my 560’s and 50’s ..Oregon Versa cuts light are a better balance for cutting all day , the Sugis are fine for Arb work where you probably would not notice the difference and they may last a life time but if I had two 560’s one with a sugi and the other a normal Oregon I would be picking the Oregon up at the end of the day just because it felt lighter and more in control when fatigued. I did try a few dirt cheap £15 bars that are cheaper than a sugi sprocket when I was on multiple windblow on a steep bank as it wasn’t usual to have a stump or log role and crush a bar... I’ll give it to the sugi that it took a lot to bend one!
  25. Good job [emoji1303]
