  1. I have an outdoor research bivy bag, and it sweats on the inside. Very important that the bag breathe, I've spent some cold ass nights wet in my bivy bag.

    Rigging Errors

Rigging errors, Here's a larger piece that had tooooooo many wraps on it. I survived, just remember when you're tied into a different tree, give yourself alot of slack. [ame] [/ame] You hear me say, Goodjob Jonny, but I was a bit peeaved.
  3. For marathon long ascents, 100' or more, I use an SRT deal. Long ascents, 40'-80', I go Live and Direct, with Footlocking to a perch. For long ascents with a VT/Knut or whatever, 10'-30', I footlock the tail. For long body thrusts, Never do it. Though the Knut tends slack a bit better than the VT, IN MY OPINION.
  4. Daisy match quality single pump pellet hand gun. Looks kinda lika Desert Eagle. Quite acurate.
  5. We call that Swellbow, or Bursitis, takes along time. But Hey, You can't get better unless you're hurt.
  6. Marc, Is spot on. (like a different language) Changing your knot from a tautline/blakes/one eye'd split tail to an eye and eye split tail and using something like a VT or Knut/tended knot saves and distributes the elbow forces you are feeling. Repetitive motion stresses turn into plaguing injuries. Change it up. Stretch it out. Stay Warm.
  7. Sorry. haven't read the thread. Though forget the 3120, go for the 88. It's just a better saw, at least here it is.
  8. I was gonna say rug also. There are some cool examples in the Knot Book.
  9. Mushrooms, yummy. We found a backyard covered in Pscylocibins. Trippy weekend after that one.
  10. I'm sick, Worked all last week in the cold rain, Worked all weekend on my days off in the cold rain. Went out drinking every night, staying up all night entertaining women. After all that, I've earned some cash, gash and a paid monday off with a sick day. Woody Woot Woot.
  11. Here's a few from a road of Euc's we're doing.
  12. Worth a peak of a thread I just posted at the TreeHouse, Sorry for the link but it takes along time to upload these pictures. http://www.gypoclimber.com/showthread.php?t=11201 What's up Steve? Things look great here.
  13. He's notorious for cutting through his hinge. He doesn't do the big money cuts. I asked him if he wanted me to leave it in and he said it's a good example for people to see. The one before goes the wrong way too. Cheers
  14. Well there, It's been quite sometime, though here's Presidio Montage 7, 2008 Season is drawing to a close. We start Planting soon. Some Rolling Stones and Falling Wood. Here's a linkers.. [ame] [/ame] I guess like an American Version of a European Version
  15. My biggest fear was gaffing out in the middle of a cut and sliding down the stick with saw running and blood flying everywhere. Now a days I just spur in deep and get set in my perch. I still gaff out once in awhile but it's second nature to catch myself now without even thinking of it.
  16. Just saw the vid again, 2:30 is Steve. Give'em a break he's from Kansas. He can't help that.
  17. What is a MEWP? New climbers should never one hand until you get enough experience and wisdom to know when you can. Getting cut is forever. Be careful. "IMO a little more work on the editing front is needed to tighten up on what otherwise is source of enjoyment and education." Huh? My editing? I'm a better climber/faller than an editor. Not trying to be cheeky, Glad you all enjoyed it. Take Care, Have Fun. 'Til next time. I'm getting more footage as we speak. I need a higher quality video camera than just my canon elf 500. Que sera, sera.
  18. Here's the latest video. Presidio Montage 6. [ame] [/ame]
  19. Used 2 rigging points to float/drift the brush to the chipper/parking lot. We had to protect the drop zone. Yeah, after lunch it was already set-up so they hauled me up, easy peasy. We used a generator with a hole hawg drill. I'd like to check out a helmet cam someday. I like allmark's helmet cam vids, like the 9' willow removal is a Great one.
  20. You need to come out here, I'll show you some even bigger trees, we can score some jobs then you'll get to work them too. Big Firs, Big Redwoods and Oaks. I love northern California, like mecca but better and wetter with way hotter lasses.
  21. A good roper is AS important as a top Climber, no doubt, can't really have max efficiency with one without the other. I got a Salvadorian named Jonny, I've put my life in his hands more than once. God Bless him.
  22. Monterey Pine exactly. Usually foggy in the morning, then sunny afternoon. As they say Perfect. Laters.
  23. So here's the latest, Rigged everything. Used the hobbs on the rigging spar and the GRCS on the tree itself. Pretty mellow video, something to gander at. To bad we didn't get any of the wood filmed. Lots of false crotching, snapped the rope twice on some lower stuff. Smiles Deva [ame] [/ame]
