  1. Looks like some kind of Washingtonia. sp.
  2. What about an American with American gear OSHA approved? Is that comparable to this loller and CE? And do people really walk onto tree jobs and check certs and gear?
  3. That's usually how I choose my soundtracks too. Great Video, the tune goes with the mist anyhoo.
  4. Good stuff Steve, Did you have spurs on? Do you bring your line up with you in a free for all like that?
  5. Coulda found a better song, that's like posh spice over here or diet old.
  6. 24" bar with semi skip. Lightning fast, watch your toes. I even go 24" full comp sometimes for mawing wood.
  7. Hell Yeah Lady, Keep Ripping! Strictly awesome. In the most polite manner of course.
  8. Could a guy climb around the world?
  9. Few more from a walk at Helen Putnam. About 300 acres of Oak Woodland and Oak Savanah. Just outside of town.
  10. Or a pulaski handle.
  11. Hey Pete what's up? How are things? Hope all's well. Deva
  12. I have one of those yates bags at home. or at work I just put it in my pants pocket or I just girth hitch the lanyard/strap on a carabeaner and put it on my saddle.
  13. My camers rides with me everyday in the tree. Thing is freaking bomb proof. Cannon rips. I just blow it out with air after a real dirty climb.
  14. I'll look for some more. Digital Photography really doesn't count in this day and age. I feel I gotta decent eye.
  15. Exactly, I was taught minimum 4 wraps on the tail spread out as much as possible. Straight Timber hitch, min 7 wraps. Spaced out as much as possible.
  16. For example
  17. Dang, You guys are fast.
  18. kinda like this, (sloppy example) but use the PW instead of a block. A timber hitch (minimum 7 wraps) tends to roll up, very difficult to get snug and stay put. A cow hitch takes the shock on the device and doesn't roll as the force is double collared on it self and minimum four wraps with the tail.
  19. When a whoopie won't reach, you need something else. Whoopies are good for fast adjustment say in a tree. Just talking PW, not hobbs or grcs, which use straps cranked tight. With your standard eye sling you can make a nice fit snug attachment with a cowhitch. or the hitch of your choosing. Nick made a 25' 1" eye sling for me, this fits almost all of the trees that I prune. Use tufflex slings they have 4'. 6' 8' and I think 10'. They make a nice girth hitch or however you want to attach.
  20. PortaWraps, Do you all use Hobbs or GRCS? Though the Porta wrap can take some abuse too. Don't mind how close the guy on the PortaWrap is, He was a noob and it was his job, I just wrecked it.
  21. You said it, Working in the city I'm blessed with the gift of grand views. GG Bridge, The farralon islands, Angel Island, Alcatraz, and of course the City itself.
  22. The best way is whatever way it secures the device steadfast so as not to move at all (damage tree). G7ree, your avatar shows a bit of movement of the device. My buddy Shamrock told me of a time that he took a Euc top and the groundie held tight. The hobbs skirted 60' up the tree. "If it's not tight, it's not right." Also used for returning fisherman from sea.
  23. Tufflex sling or Cow hitch on a eye sling.
  24. Here's a couple. 140' Fir make/safe. The tree was shredded by the one laying at the bottom. The other fir had flipped and hung up. I tripped it a week earlier. Now I left this fir at about 60' with 4 limbs on it. It woulda reached some houses.
  25. Yes Tockmal, It's an Echo of all things. We tried forward for faster ascent but the drill got stuck in Boggingtown. So in Reverse you have a better gear ratio. Basically set your False crotch/Friction Saver. Then tie a eye and eye hitch, knut, VT, or whatever. Then take about 4 wraps on the tail of the climbers line and gas it, stop when they say stop. I footlocked that tree for one hanger and was a little spent then I got to thinking............................ Saves your strength for the work. i.e. MORE PRODUCTION.
