  2. good points and i'll add I used to use part worn many years ago,for some reason they always wore badly and prematurely, ending up in false economy
  3. The fish took 25 mins to land , on a 6/0 hook intended for tuna [live bait under a balloon] took me around the boat 360 degrees, my heart has not pumped so hard, for a longwhile, and don't forget i'm left-handed and the reels designed for right-handed use lol Anyway got some cod pics to put up soon...

  6. Was that at the Tate modern, sounds like another piece by Damien Hirst lol...........
  7. My dog weighs in at 55kg, I reckon the dog was an English Mastiff sorry to split hairs.. Mastiffs were bred as game keepers dogs they tend to smother and pin you down , rather than chew your face off, which is a good thing considering they have one of the most powerful jaws in the canine world For the record my dogs lives out doors..
  8. why should a dog owner feel any guilt keeping and feeding a dog? humans have kept dogs for thousands of years, it's not my problem , that I and others are wealthy enough to feed and keep a dog!
  9. Oh come on Ed you can do better than that....
  10. I have a Bullmastif they get big , but not that big..
  11. My dog often eats a huge bowl of fresh minced beef, and guess what neither him or I feel a bit guilty...

  15. Think I'll change the mood in here a little.. [ame]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9PvE2cpUkx8&feature=related[/ame]
  16. All trades should be licensed in my opinion..
  17. might not be stolen , but it could still be on finance!
  18. Great pics thanks for sharing..
  19. ok folks just got off the phone to the climbers employer, keep your cheque books close , but for legal reasons we can't send any checks just yet! Anyway i'm pledging x amount, Chris the climber is still in a serious condition folks!
  20. Going on from Andy Collins suggestion, regarding a setting up a fund for the injured climber Chris, I thought I'd start up a donation pledge thread.. I'll get in contact with the climbers boss and get an address for us to send him a few quid.. No need to pledge how much money, just put your name down if you intend on sending Chris a donation.. My guess is this guy will need all the help he can get for the foreseeable future! and money is a start!
  21. This is the thread posted by the injured climbers boss I'm sure UKTC won't mind me copying this and posting it here, this chap needs to be included in your thoughts and prayers.. More bad news. My company had an accident today. My friend who has 10 years experience cut his rope and fell out of a tree sufferring serious head and bodily injuries. He is currently in intensive care after some time in theatre. He is a solid and dependable climber aware and made aware of the risks. He was working for me at the time. I will not comment at this stage as to what happened. I was not on site and the HSE are doing their thing. Please keep your fingers crossed for Chris Headdon. The two guys from the HSE cracked innapropriate jokes (my anger produced profuse apology), have adjusted their line of questioning to interrogate, interrogate and have been told (in no uncertain terms) that when they had stopped rubbing their hands together in glee at the chance to 'do some research on tree surgeons' that I would glady furish them with my entire collection of H&S info to get them started. Absolute W*****S the pair of em. The police, ambulance and air ambulance crew as well as the staff on site were exceptional and highly professional. Please put a £ in the air ambulance pot. Paul
  22. The guys boss said in another thread that they, the HSE guys cracked jokes! the climber cut his own rope, he had been a climber for 10 years, climber and boss were mates.. Becarefull out there guys! this chap had been in the job for over 10 years!
  23. Anyone else read this on UKTC, I've copy and pasted the thread. Chris has sustained 4 broken ribs, a punctured lung, 1 broken and 1 shattered arm, broken pelvis, a shattered eye socket and serious head injuries. They have removed the top of his skull to relieve pressure and blood clots and cannot begin any surgery until he makes progress with his head injuries. Thanks to all for your support and advice over the last few days it has been very welcome. A written complaint is being filed against the HSE 'inspectors' for their innapropriate behaviour. Anyone know anything about this? I hope the guy makes a full recovery , I send Chris and his family my sympathies..
  24. I'd be worried I didn't pull the vehicle apart , with a winch like that
  25. I saw the same thing mate, the trees had an insecticide warning sign on them, my guess is they use the tubes for both fert and bug killer.. A Brit over there recently bought a few decent palms for his villa, he told me they cost £800 don't thin k they were much bigger than 9' high
