Funnily enough, when I bought mine the dealer got one out to do the pdi and it wouldn't oil. They sent that back to stihl and got me another. This one is fine. Has anyone modded one yet? Possibly too early to shoot the warranty yet, but would make it into a different animal I reckon:sneaky2: .

Yeh, thats why I linked to LRSeries Chris. I've dealt with them a lot, but to be honest if Dom thinks a particular part is no good from one of the suppliers he will tell you and suggest a better alternative. As you say, some of the bits can have little difference in price, whereas others a massive difference. An honest supplier is worth his weight IMO and never had a problem with any of the parts they have supplied.

Bearmach are prety good, said to be more reliable than Brit ones

Mmm, I know what you mean about some of the britpart stuff, but the service kits are fine. The dealer I linked will supply genuine too if you wanted to go that route, but never had a problem with the copy stuff myself.

No mate, its walnut. To be honest, I know Ive hammered the fun out of the firewood comments but its a reflection of how I feel about the milling market. What Ive found in our area at least, is many folk make a big noise about wanting premium hardwoods for various applications. As a result I started milling lots of it. Anything from copper beech, walnut and yew, to very big english and which elms. Also trials with stuff such as monkey, tree of heaven and maple. The dissapointment and sarcasm comes from the follow up lack of interest(and money) in the said boards, beams and interesting pieces. As a result I have simply either logged most of it or made various items for myself. It appears, as I say there seemed to be very little real interest in it around us and simply not viable. Sorry if Ive come across negative or irrative, but I do think its a shame such premium stuf has ended up on the stove. I do have a huge interest in the subject though and like to see creations resulted from it, hence my regular presence.

I'm very rusty on the old agro chems Johnny, but I seem to think there was a lot of even cheaper alternatives around than the well known brands. I think there was one simply called "Glyphos" and was around £18 per 5l around 8 or 9 years ago when roundup was nearer £45. Worth asking around a bit before you purchase the top brands mate.

If they both list the same glyposate per L Johnny, just get the cheapest:thumbup1:

No. Its much better than that, it only has one! It is 18" diameter though and the roller carriage weighs nearly 250kgs!

I guess we're used to snedding differently now with mine. It may sound a bit mad, but try and do as little snedding as possible, that is, leave everything in as long and big pieces as you can. It will self feed and crunch forks like nothing you've seen before, and dont be too keen to reverse the drive roller, it will keep going. This mentality has meant we no longer need a chipper saw. In fact, the chipper man doesn't need to have a saw ticket! Trial and error mainly, but dont be scared of trying stuff you'd normally think wouldn't go through:thumbup1:

Mate, it was my main concern before I got mine but anyone who had actually used one said dont worry. So, I guess there's another one now, dont worry about the single roller:001_rolleyes: To put it into context, Ive used a good few 8" and 9" chippers and that thing will embarrass any of them. TW, Gmech, Jenson etc. As Pete says, the only down side to them is the stopped making them! Yours looks a fairly late one though with the perkins engine so should last years. .

Yeh, no worries Rob, I was just thinking if it was rear mounted it could be attached to the tank unit and come away complete with the demount. I guess a lot will depend how much you use the landy without the sprayer and how often it's taken on and off. Nice set up though:thumbup1:
