  1. Is there anyone here who has actually sold any timber like this and made that mysterious fortune? I doubt it, at least you're guaranteed £100/loose cube in logs:thumbup1: .
  2. The secret is, we're filling the tunnel now for next year. The holes in the base of solid sided bags is based on the "heat rises" theory. The bags must be on pallets though so as not to blank off the holes and allow air to rise with the moisture. With this system we have virtually no mould to date. Here's a couple of pics of the forklift, tractor etc in the tunnel. Sourcing the right kit(a small forklift) helps but not essential. We can easily have a couple of landy tippers in there, tractor and forklift while we process if the weather is rough outside. The hoops are 28feet span and cost £150 second hand. There's 14 bays making it around 120 foot long and the plastic was about £400. Everything is owned, from machinery to the actual yard so not much outgoing. If you're lucky you may even spot some of the "unsuccessful" vented bags in there!😜
  3. Silkys safe? Haha! Get real man!
  4. I may have been teasing a little.
  5. They say two cans and a string is making a come back mate, £1.28 for the phone, unlimited airtime, no contract and no nuisance calls. Think I'm switching over:thumbup:
  6. Just think along the lines "s" is for special. "c" is for cheap. Once that's understood you can make your informed decision:thumbup1:
  7. Yep:thumbup: Currently around 200 bags in there, no time to be messing around changing from stillages to bags!
  8. Depends who you try insuring it with! Good post Ray:thumbup1:
  9. Because if you were kiln drying you wouldn't need to rely on the wind!
  10. Very nice Ferguson, given it's almost an hour long I'll put some special time aside to watch that! Many thanks.
  11. I thought the 540 was exempt, given it's inability to be hung long in a tree?😎
  12. Burned? Water running out the bottom? What on earth are you guys doing? Wow! Who said anything about "burning" holes in the "sides"? Anyone doing any volume of "quality" firewood will not be exposing it to "water". If seasoning firewood with any form of "heat", cutting holes in the "sides", or using vented will result in bad air flow. Cutting holes in the base of a full sided bag, allowing air (and moisture) to rise, now that's a different story!😎
  13. Come on Joe, I'm a bit slow on the uptake being a northerner! Tell or I'll cut your toes off!😍
  14. Come on then, no statement like that's allowed unless you follow through?
  15. MCA spot on here too. Wouldn't bother with vented though, full sided bags with holes cut in are as effective if not more, and better than half the money.
  16. Cheers David, I've heard different reasons over the years, such as spin of the earth and even continuous following sun through the day. Nice to hear your reasons David. 👍
  17. Bizarre tree josh, cheers for sharing. Anyone know what causes it?
  18. The fact it takes longer to get to site is not your issue. As the driver it's your obligation to drive legally. As said about working on the motorway is no excuse to drive it on the motorway! It should either be trailered to site or an appropriately taxed vehicle is taken. It's a bit like saying you need to tow a 2ton chipper to site without a post '97 license just because you need the chipper on site. Surprised you got away with it!
  19. I think you guys have already about answered it. Simply depends on its taxation class. Ag, for one is a definite no no.
  20. Falling is not the problem. Landing, now that's the tricky part!😜
  21. Some very selective editing went on there!
  22. Maybe lost train of thought but still a good post, especially for the less experienced to learn a wee bit.
