No you don't have to weld the old outlet shut but I didn't want such a massive outlet on my exhaust, Al Smith told me that the outlet should be around 80% of the exhaust port on the saw. Just remember, faster gasses require a richer mix of the carb.

Once I cleaned the pot with oven cleaner the damage didn't look as bad but it did have some medium scoring, it polished out real well with some fine wet and dry and some light oil.

No mate, it's still being run in after the new piston and rings and polishing the damage out of the pot, the exhaust has been de-baffled though and yes they do Roar!!

Finished off my rebuilt 441 today, well my mate did by braising the old exit shut, I added the ugly gash in the front, she rips!
  8. I thought I would put this post here as well as general tree pictures. Contract climbing today, Beech reduction for Mr Neville Faye, pouring with rain all day which made it pretty slippy, tree has been reduced before to encourage new growth throughout the crown and it's working despite the tree suffering from Meripilus and something else that I can't recall and also having had a Picus five years ago that would probably would have condemned the tree if it had been in another location, Myself and Mike T carried out the climbing work. Before, after, best view from a neighboring field.

  10. Always makes me cringe when folk put their mobile numbers up on a open forum, it's asking for trouble.

  12. I feel sorry for some of those people but then I remember that most of them have, or had, paid holidays, pension plans and sick pay. But I also look at the big picture, think back to the past and realize that once again we've been cheated, to miss quote Mr John Lydon.
  13. Nice one Mr elfinwood saws.
  14. Nice mewp.
  15. Sadly still a very common problem.
  16. It sounds like a fuel problem, maybe the low jet set to lean? How many turns out is it on your saw? I have a 254xp and can check the settings for you, also my chain oil leaks from the saw as well but as the saw rarely gets used I don't really worry about it, I store it dry.
  17. I thought this was pretty interesting, makes you wonder who's spying on your personal information. UAE BlackBerry ban set to spread throughout Gulf states | Technology | guardian.co.uk
  18. Somebody's been on the Liberty Caps.
  19. From him? Never.
  20. Your lady bought a Van yet Andy? My mate imports them from the states and makes a killing selling them, far more than he has ever and will ever make from tree work. Here's his site Vintage Valley - Vintage VW Campervans from the USA, vintage and retro americana - vw parts and accessories - cooler boxes
  21. New England instructions for Tachyon say to taper the inner three strand core which is a simple step but Puk told me to take it out, this is what I have done with all my Tachyon splices.
  22. Long shot, yes I'm being pedantic.
  23. I'm thinking belly box.
  24. Yeah, I know of a carver down in Somerset who likes it.
  25. Bump,bump,bump.
