  1. Messy, those Palms.
  2. Experience, unfortunately means little in the modern world of the stupid
  3. As john said, Marlow Gecko is not easy, especially if it's been used, I couldn't even get the core out of the one I tried, as you have managed this you are doing well. You could try tapering the cover more and the other trick you could try is cutting out half of the strands half an inch from the end then use the remaining long strands to fold over the short strands as they go through the wire fid, bunch up the cover before you pull through that should give you more room also pull the core at the same time as your pulling the fid through, take your time and wear some gloves. Oh and make sure the fid has not caught a core strand, pull the core tight as you enter the fid, you need to try to get it between the cover and the core not through the core.
  4. Is it Narnia?
  5. Yeah, got it from the states, , I have loopies and I really like them too but I wanted a whoopie sling for my lowering device as the double braid slings I made up just kept slipping, I have a nice Beech removal next week, right over a garage to test it out on.
  6. I never turn the TV on during the day, it's a sure way to send you stupid, just Six on the radio the burner and the dags.
  7. Thank's Hadders, It's so simple to splice, I have over 20ft of that rope left if anybody wants one?
  8. Sat at home today so had time to make a sling with the rope I have had sat around waiting for such a day, got to finish the whipping yet though. Here's a video of how to make one by Nick Araya. How To Splice a Whoopie Sling With Yalex | Craft Businesses | Howcast.com
  9. Yes, I used a wire fid.
  10. I did one eye last night and the other this morning but in total time probably one hour but it is pretty old rope so it was a little more difficult than with a new shiny rope.
  11. I made this one this morning for my amigo.
  12. Hello, the local authority I contract for is trying to estimate a ballpark figure of the total tonnage of logs and woodchip produced annually in the possible intention of using it to burn in some of the council boilers. Has anybody here worked on this type of thing before, I know it's a bit much to ask but i thought some folk here may have already worked on this type of question. Thanks.
  13. Shot of the year!
  14. Still waiting for the pictures, I fear I may never receive them.
  15. A cold day for a spot of Beech tree mutilating by myself and Stu.
  16. Should it be charged?
  17. Great post Dave
  18. Hell of a lot of it stays here Rupe it just shifts areas, I have been offered all types of illegitimate gear, from saws to chippers and mini diggers.
  19. No, not so far, I've had two suspect vans checking out my garage where I keep my kit , luckily both were spotted by my policeman neighbour and called in but I'm just waiting for the return.
  20. You need to get away from that situation, I had exactly the same type of regime and it ended up costing me my physical and as a result, mental health, living and climbing with constant pain is not funny and at 40 it's getting less amusing still.
  21. Maybe 300k. If you owe the bank $100 that's your problem. If you owe the bank $100 million, that's the bank's problem. J. Paul Getty
  22. Not spliced it but did give away my stitched eye to eye hitch cord as, like you, I did'nt get on with it, the recipient of the OP however, loves the stuff.
  23. Well, maybe but sticking it in an envelope and sending it to your good self requires little effort and saves me the ordeal of going through the undoubted hassle of testing in this country, eg, picking up a phone, talking to people. Obviously I will buy you a beer when we meet.
  24. Is that all it takes to be able to sell spliced rope in NZ? I have a hitch cord made of Armour Pruss that I spliced with very short burys, do you fancy break testing it for me when It's come to the end of it's climbing life?
  25. Good stuff, is that OP your own splicing? Look forward to the Vids.
